It's incredibly campy, making it not an epic masterpiece, but a fun romp sort of movie. The visuals were excellent, especially Sandman for me. And Bruce Campbell and Ted Raimi's cameo roles were absolutely priceless.
I definitely forgot how much I enjoy Hitchcock until I watched this movie. Wow. Incredible all around. The plot twists and turns and keeps you tense the entire time, helped along by stunning cinematography. This film has some of the most memorable shots of all time, especially the one in the tennis match when all the spectators' heads are watching the ball go back and forth except Bruno's.
Each film distinctly belongs to each director: Rodriguez does amazing adrenaline pumping yet slightly detached stylized violence, while Tarantino also does incredible violence but his gift clearly lies with dialogue. Planet Terror was exactly what I expected, a zombie flick with lots of violence and cringe-worthy gore. Which means excellent fun. Death Proof was quite unexpected but original, funny, violent, and thrilling at the same time. I have to say I preferred Planet Terror this time around, but who knows what I'll think next time?
