I'm always amazed by how much I enjoy Charlie Chaplin films. It feels as though a film that came out in 1921 should be so far removed that one watches it for its cultural significance /at that time/ and to respect its place in history. Honestly, a lot of those old flicks aren't anything I'd ever want to rewatch. But all of Chaplin's flicks I've seen, including one of his first, The Kid, are so ridiculously entertaining that I find it hard to believe that this was brought about near the beginning of cinema. I went from tearing up for the plight of the tramp and his child to laughing out loud at some of the great visual gags. The entire movie is a really enjoyable experience and I can't recommend it enough.
