This film is a remake of the original film Let the Right One In, which is based on the film of the same name. While there are many parts of the film that are similar to the original Swedish film, there are some new things added to make it different. Like its predecessor, Let Me In shows a less romanticized view of vampirism. The relationship between Owen and Abby can be viewed as both happy and sad. Taking place in Los Alamos, New Mexico in 1983, the film features television and music references that mark this time in American history. I noticed that Chloe Moretz's Abby was a little more lively than Lina Leandersson's Eli. I'm glad that they didn't make Abby androgynous like Eli. While not a great remake, it makes its own mark in the American horror film genre and is worth watching again.
