Well, for all the film flaws that a life less ordinary has, it still has a great cast (minus cameron diaz) like delroy lindo and ian holm. While it may be sloppy, i can't help loving how silly it is, how nobody can die, and the general fun feeling involved. Requiem for a Dream is also certainly a scare movie, but for someone like me who was at one point in a hell like that with my drug problems, not really that far from the truth. Sure I didn't lose an arm to heroin, but for what was going on in my head it about matches up with what they had to do in a movie and show it physically. The film school effects are overused it's true, but that kind of thing doesn't ruin the parts about it that I like. I don't hate jared leto, and I love the soundtrack, and come on. It has the ass to ass part.
