Beautifully shot, subtly-told tale of a spoilt urban brat sent to live with his deaf mute grandmother in her hut in the country. Its a simple story all in all, but powerfully done and heart-wrenchingly poignant.
Prequel. A prequel that goes on (mostly) *outside* the cube. What madness is this???
Having said that - its actually not a terrible film. Lead actor blokey is very watchable and the story goes someway to answering the Q's you had in previous films (and, as its cube, goes on to pose more).....but there's something a bit iffy about the writing in this one. Particularly to do with the ending, which was a bit pants.
A sequel, so it doesn't have the surprise and novelty of the first but it does fairly well in not getting too carried away on the shiny, new, improved cube and stays focussed on the important bit - the poor bastards stuck inside.
