There is no upside to this movie. It is not funny, thought out, or even coherent in story. It's a 2 hours booze binge with half baked characters. I am Angry that Costner would even take on such a role.
A film that depicts the stronghold that power wields. Film runs somewhere between documentary and movie. Even so you will watch and find yourself breathing shallowly. The interviews in the features section is also worth a viewing.
Nothing special here. Girl falls for the wrong guy, marries him, has the kid - big surprise she wants a divorce. If you've nothing else to watch then throw this movie on but don't make a special trip for it.
Scorsese's attempt at a period piece. It is mainly unoriginal in story, untrue in design, and haphazard in the handling of this movie as a time piece. If you've nothing else to watch have a go otherwise there are better options out there.
What do you get when you cross a rabbi, a gangster and a hit man? Lucy Liu quoting Colombo. If that sounds funny then I'm one up on this botched wanna be comedy/thriller/action/drama noir bundle of crap called a "movie".
Dark, oppressive, hopeless, unfocused and scattered. I was shocked as it's loaded with heavy hitters! Scorsese just keeps to the dark and forgoes a story of any interest. I am a Southie and I could barely care the outcome of this never ending movie.
