My drive-in experiences have tended to be more favorable than that. I remember seeing Tron at a local drive-in (which has long since closed down). It wasn't a great movie, but was OK.

I have enjoyed other Arthur C. Clarke works. For instance, I liked Childhood's End quite well. I would like to read more of his works; they are on my to be read list.

This does not even deserve a star. That so many people liked it tells me they either did not watch the cartoons or read the graphic novels and comics, all excellent in terms of compelling stories, or, they are people with really low standards for even a popcorn movie. The cheese on this is so bad it is not even Velveeta. It is an insult to government cheese. And the whole sappy crap with the Baroness? That forced romantic interest? That is one hell of a bad travesty. Same thing with Scarlett and Ripcord. Just there to push something. Anyhow, I guess it made enough money that a sequel is coming, but then again, Hollywood as of late is not known for making anything actually good.

This is a very good martial arts film with a historical element. A biopic that is also a great Kung Fu film as it tells the story of Ip Man. Good acting, and extremely well made fighting sequences. Worth a look.

This is what I wrote on my GetGlue Review: The movie certainly went in a much different direction than the graphic novel, to put it mildly. Quite a twist in terms of plot, not to mention the ending, which in the book is much darker. Having said that, this is still an interesting scifi film and worth watching. It does capture the basic feel of the graphic novel somewhat. But leaving that aside, for those who have not read the book and are coming to the film as a film, it is one good enough to watch on its own. However, if you choose to read the graphic novel, be prepared; it is very different, and personally, I do like the ending in the graphic novel better. I am really not wanting to spoil things because I think people should seek out the graphic novel and take a look. It may also explain a bit why this film did not do as well in the box office. Sure, part of it was that it is a film that appeals to thought, no brainless explosions as such. But also, as I said, very different from the source material.

This was better than I thought it would be. Definitely not the typical vampire movie. It is a bit slow, and there is a tragic element to its love story. I did not rate it higher mostly for the slow pace, and I did wish the ending had been different. An additional appeal to me, as a librarian, were the scenes in the library. I would not mind working in a place like that.

One and a half star is pretty generous for this cheesy film. A nice premise, but a very lowly executed film. Or at least a bit painful to watch in terms of the acting at times. A couple of steamy moments, a few somewhat decent fight scenes, but overall, not much to see here overall. Caught this on Hulu while killing some time. If nothing else, Chona Jason, the half vampire heroine, is pretty easy on the eyes.
