Alice in Wonderland

(2010)
4 years ago via Flixster

I had been looking forward to this movie for over two years and when I finally got to see it I was blown away! While, I will admit, parts of it could have been better, the other parts make up for it by far! Johnny Depp's portrayal of The Mad Hatter is a spelndid adaptation of the character as he chose to portray him as more "mentally troubled" then just "a wacky type of mad". You could tell within two minutes of The Hatter being on screen that he was indeed mad. All of the inhabitants of Wonderland (or Underland as they point out is the true name) really capture yur attention in their own unique way and show that they are quite indeed "All mad here". I love how Burton chose to set this adaptation up as a sequal taking place when Alice turns 19 and returns to Wondeland to find the the bloody Red Queen has completely take over and is destroying Wonderland, as you can truly see that this Wonderland has changed drastically from Disney's older cartoon version with the buildings in ruins and weeds growing eveywhere. And it's all up to Alice to slay the dreaded Jebberwocky and overthrow the Red Queen returning the White Queen to power. All in all this movie is deffinately a must see! However this version, unlike the cartoon, isn't just for children. I've seen this movie twiceand I'm still craveng for more! Five stars! Job well done Mr. Burton!
