Initially I wasn't certain what I was getting myself into, but roughly a third of the way into the film a light went on. I thought I understood crazy. I thought crazy was a concept with which I was well-aquainted. But, not until now have I come to truly understand the full potential of insanity. On top of the characters' hijinks there was also this completely mesmorizing world that almost seems like a fantasy construction, due to its being so different from my own. I loved the water, the colors, the animals, the ice, the costuming, the music, and the poop. Well done.
Better than I expected. Thought it would be just another monster movie, but managed to balance interesting characters, decent action, and some crazy effects. I think it could have used some cutting down, but all in all you get the feeling that PJ loves and respects his source material.
