New contender for the worst movie of all time. Look up "generic, cliche, and soulless" in the dictionary. This should have released straight-to-video to avoid tarnishing of the Disney brand. I honestly do not have a single positive thing to say about this movie.
The setup is really good: it feels like it's on it's way to being an instant Disney classic. The characters are vibrant and engaging, the atmosphere is spot-on, the musical numbers are really nice, but then the second half seems to let it down. Elsa's character doesn't get nearly the amount of time she deserves (she could've been an all-time great Disney character with more screentime), Anna/Kristoff's relationship needs a bit more time, and the ending of the movie feels kind of abrupt. Not a very satisfying ending, when it absolutely could have been.
It's a good movie, but it feels like it missed out on a bunch of opportunities to be an absolute Disney classic. I know it's a tall order, but if they would have added 15-20 more minutes to this movie, it would have done it wonders. Argh, kinda frustrating, because it's so close. Elsa's so close to being a great character, and Frozen is so close to being a great movie.
