Incredible(ly funny, biting and real) dialogue, excellent performances and an unexpected twist or two add up to a striking directorial debut. If only it wasn't so very amateur in it's production values, it might have gotten a proper release and been added to the list of indie masterpieces.
A unique twist on the sci-fi action blockbuster that is both smart and entertaining. That there are loopholes already apparent while viewing (as opposed to in hindsight) and a lack of re-watchability prevent the film from reaching true greatness.
A melancholy mess that fails to escape the Coppola trait of creating worlds dripping with white privilege. But in the end, the film feels like a thesis film, a project whose primary purpose was to allow growth and learning on behalf of the director.
