Clocking in at just a shade over 30 minutes, this French science fiction film might be brief but it tells a complete, alluring story in that minimal amount of time. Detailing an unnamed man traveling from a post-apocalyptic France back in time in order to attempt to prevent World War 3, the entire film is told with still images. It is doubtful this technique would maintain interest at a feature length but in this smaller allotment of time it's highly effective. The emotive quality of the photography images here work well, as the lighting and the expressiveness of the actors are not compromised for taking this route. This film was also the initial inspiration for the film 12 Monkeys so if you enjoyed that it's certainly an insightful viewing.
