Daniel's Review of Amour

    Amour (2012)

Depressing and often very tough to watch, this is a bit of a departure for haneke, while stylistically it looks like his other films, in that it has a cold detached style, with no music score, and no hope, this film isn't trying to be vague or puzzling, the story is pretty straightforward, and while the characters aren't perfect, they're still good people and you feel sorry for them, there isnt the usual judgement and looking down upon of the characters as haneke tends to do, but its quite unflinching in its depiction of the body falling apart, and the strain it causes to the marriage and children, it especially hit home because my grandpa went through similar circumstances last year, sarah polleys away from her is similar to this, and i though that was sad, but amour is way more bleak and hopeless
