You pretty much said everything about the new Muppet movie that i felt, except with more charisma than myself haha. I still have no idea why they chose Ricky Gervais though, is he more popular in the US? oh and i agree that there's too many people and not enough Muppets! :)

Likewise! I'm liking your review of superman (1978) by the way, unfortunately i can't rent on Lovefilm which seems completely ridiculous but i'm sure i'll find it elsewhere. I also like what seems your appreciation for David Thewlis!

Hello, thanks for your message! Grant Morrison is brilliant, he's so interesting did you read his book Supergods? That's cool how you found him through Zenith. Yes they do feature some great things i'd love to see but they're mainly at the back in the little grids if that makes any sense. It's real geeky but i cut out parts of the magazine that interest me and put them in a scrapbook. The trailer for The Great Gatsby looks amazing, visually! Your classics mission sounds great. I am also reading more classic books too, namely Homer's Odyssey & Dante's Inferno etc glad you are too! I haven't seen any of the Superman movies, i read some action comics by Grant Morrison recently though, i see you like comics.

oingoboingo

I think you're dead on about Total Film etc, if they offended everyone then there'd be nobody to interview for sure. I usually do not pay much attention to their reviews, my taste is all over the place so i'm sort of a "you don't know until you see it" person :D Are there any upcoming releases that interest you?

oingoboingo

oingoboingo

I just signed up to Lovefilm, i had it years ago but they kept sending discs that skipped. So far it's been great though. Sorry your family doesn't share your enthusiasm :( I don't know anybody REALLY interested in film so it's nice to indulge on Flixster and see what others say, do you read Total Film magazine?

oingoboingo
Dr. F Pajamas 18 months ago

OH Lovefilm - do you use the mail order version or online? "Stupidly large DVD collection", very cool! I'm sure your wife loves movies as much? or at least it must have rubbed off on her! RE: Tony Kaye/Detachment comment

Yeah I have no way to be sure. It could be just wishful thinking on my part. Kaye is known for being a tad 'eccentric' so it could be just a film fan doing a homage of some sort, but, I don't know...

There is something about the writing that makes me think its the real deal. Especially with the second comment he puts on there.

I own about 1500 batman comics, and am a huge fan of the character, and i gave 5 stars to each of the first two films, and i had HUGE problems with the third film. it was a decent movie, but in my view, way more flawed than the first two.

My TV SHOW BOX SET OF THE DAY is a double feature pick both staring one of my favourite stand-up comedians Louie C.K.the shows are LOUIE & LUCKY LOUIE

LUCKY LOUIE: Some men have a dream, Louie has a family. LUCKY LOUIE is an American television sitcom that aired for one season on HBO The series revolves around Louie who lives with his wife, Kim, and their four-year-old daughter, Lucy. Louie works part-time at the local muffler shop. Kim is a full-time at a hospital and is the family's breadwinner.
Stars: Louis C.K. Mike Hagerty, Jim Norton & the always awesome Pamela Adlon

A must see hella funny show and after you finish the season you will be wondering why if was never picked up for season 2
5 out of 5

LOUIE: The series is loosely based on Louis C.K.'s life, showing him as a comic onstage, and depicting his life offstage as a newly divorced father of two girls. Each episode features either two stories that may or may not connect thematically

This show stars Louis C.K. but in both season is full of guest stars and is also a must see but this show is way different then LUCKY LOUIE

Happy 3000th Review (if that's an actual salutation proper??)
I found your comments on Australia very pertinent to my own feelings. It's one of those films I have always meant to watch and just haven't got round to due to a weird unfathomable aversion to it - it's probably the idea that I may enjoy something I should probably not care to admit to. Baz Luhrman brings that out in me. 'Strictly Ballroom', 'Romeo and Juliet' and (especially) 'Moulin Rouge' are films I hate and love in almost equal measure. That happens when you make stuff as literally camp as he does (the campier elements always attract me but camp for camp's sake can be very grating).
He's definitely the most obviously camp of any film maker working today (it will be interesting to see what he does with 'The Great Gatsby'). Of the others that come to mind, John Waters doesn't seem to be making anything anymore, Almodovar has gone respectable (not always in a good way until 'The Skin I Live In' came along) and Ozon (who has his moments -'Sitcom' for sure) I fear my be opting for 'straight'(?) farce.
So reading your comments means 'Australia' has just gone to the top of my 'to watch' list

Enjoyed your comments on the excellent 'Monsters'.
I can see why some compare it to 'Cloverfield' but I see 'Monsters' rather more as the antithesis of 'Cloverfiled' - despite the gimicky premis of not actually fully showing the creature, 'Cloverfield' is still a monster movie with the usual trappings of a big behemoth smashing big buildings and lots of annoying one-dimentional people being dispatched. But of course the threat of 'Monsters' never actually materialises and the fact that we don't see any creatures proper till the end, serves a much more emotionally satisfying purpose than Cloverfield's dumb tease.
As you say we can say it's about all kinds of things but does it need to be? First and foremost it's just a very simple, genuinely touching love story - that happens to be set in a time of alien monsters. That's more than enough for me.

I read somewhere that there is a sequel planned which had me scratching my head - the abrupt ending is perfect, a follow-up would ruin it for me. Then I fear the worst when there are whispers that it will be more like a typical creature-feature! Is this true do you think? I hope not.

And I will certainly check out 'Chico & Rita' - thanks for the recommendation

MEIN LETZTER FILM (MY LAST MOVIE)

FIVE STARS

Germany 2002, Directed by: Oliver Hirschbiegel, Writer: Bodo Kirchhoff.
With: Hannelore Elsner.

This movie is a one-woman show. The gorgeous and alluring Hannelore Elsner plays Marie, an aging actress. Marie hires a cameraman to shoot her last movie. She walks through her flat and "packs and talks". She talks about life itself, the three important men in her life and the most important woman, her best friend Bess.

She plans to leave her life and start a new one, but before that, she wants to balance accounts with her old life. And she does it in the most wonderful way, with the most wonderful words. You may think that there is nothing as boring as watching an old woman walking around, screaming, talking, smoking....but you are so wrong!

"Men like to feign death, when it is getting serious."

"Question: When is a beautiful woman dead?
-When her heart is still beating, but she is not desired by everyone anymore.
-When she can never look at herself in the mirror again, because she is lying in her grave.
-Or maybe long before that, when she cannot stand the sight of herself anymore."

"My eyes are beautiful and will always be beautiful, because they respond glances."

DER BLAUFUCHS (THE ARCTIC FOX)

FOUR STARS

Germany 1938, Directed by: Victor Tourjansky, with: Zarah Leander, Willy Birgel, Paul Hörbiger, Jane Tilden, Karl Schönböck, Rudolf Platte.

Ilona Paulus (Zarah Leander) is the wife of a forgetful professor (Paul Hörbiger). He oversees her and is very devoted to his work. Ilona meets her husband's best friend Tibor (Willy Birgel), an adventurous pilot....and starts to fall for him.

The story is not amazingly witty, the costumes are a little funny and the characters stereotypes, it is nothing you haven't seen before. So why the four stars? Because I have a thing for that beautiful, tall, red-headed swedish woman, with her deep, dark voice. She gives me the goosebumps when she sings. And she sings twice in this movie.

HARDCOVER

FOUR STARS

Germany 2008, Directed by: Christian Zübert, Camera: Jules van den Steenhoven, Writer: Christian Zübert.
With: Lukas Gregorowicz, Wotan Wilke Möhring, Justus von Dohnányi, Anna Dereszowska, Lisa Potthoff, Charly Hübner, Filip Peeters.

Christoph, a 31-year old guy, wants to be a crime-story author, but the only pieces he writes get published in penny dreadfuls. He works in a car rental, is unchallenged and suffers from a "quarter-life-crisis" and from being uninspired and too shy to change his life for the better. Or to change it at all!

He scents the change of his life, when he catches Dominik, a small-time crook, who tries to steal a car from that car rental. He saves him from being arrested and Dominik offers to show Christoph his exciting life as a criminal. So Christoph can write a "hardcover, four-colored envelope, 500 pages"-biography.

Soon the truth hits Christoph hard. Dominik's life is as boring as his own! All he does is to eat pizza, smoke pot and join radio lotteries. He even moves in with Christoph and lives on his couch...until Christoph himself witnesses a muder, committed by Dominik's Boss. Now, he is part of the criminal scene of Düsseldorf.

Very funny indeed. So, the question is: "Are you fit for fun?"

DROP OUT- NIPPELSUSE SCHLÄGT ZURÜCK (Nipplesue Strikes Back)

3,5 STARS

Germany 1998, Directed by: Beatrice Manowski, Writer: Beatrice Manowski, Wolfgang Büld.
With: Beatrice Manowski, Erdal Yildiz, Axel Pape, Martina Schießer, Robert Viktor Minich, Lars Pape, Péter Horkay, Jürgen Görlitz.

Marion Niplowski leaves her boyfriend, who is an alcoholic and not satisfying her sexually nor finacially. To get the flat she wants, she pretends to be a private investigator. She soon gets tangled up in a weird story of "blood, coke and sex" and husbands she shall convict being unfaithful to their wives.

You could call this movie art...or pure trash. I was fooled by the title and thought it would be porn, but it is more kind of an experimental drug-trip. A mixture of scenes filmed in an homevideo-style present a fast-but-nonsense-talking female lead, a lunatic janitor with a drilling machine, lesbian businesswomen and a sleazy club-owner.

Some quotes to emphasize the style of this movie:

"My pussy is my business."

"Why do you fondle my pussy? Do you think you will find some information in there?"

THE TURN OF THE SCREW

FOUR STARS

UK 2009, Directed by: Tim Fywell, Camera: Tony Miller, Music: John Lunn.
With: Michelle Dockery, Sue Johnston, Dan Stevens, Nicola Walker, Eva Sayer, Josef Lindsay, Sarah Buckland, Edward MacLiam, Mark Umbers, Corin Redgrave, Wendy Albiston.

Based on the short story by Henry James, this movie really strikes a nerve. I am very prone to victorian ghost-stories. Give me an old house, a cemetery in the garden and isolation from the rest of the world and I am satisfied.

In 1921 a psychiatrist tries to find out, what it was, that the young Ann Giddens drove to commit murder. She has nothing to lose and tells him her story. After WW I she gets hired to be the governess for two orphaned children. All the domestic servants are women and she learns fast, that they don't want men to interfere with their isolated domicile. Men are brutal and act arbitraily, they force sex and it is hard to struggle against them. Soon Ann gets the feeling that there is something wrong. She sees figures and hears voices, that seem to be hallucinations. When she learns from the housekeeper, that the former gouverness has committed suicide and a male servant came to death under mysterious circumstances, Ann is convinced, that their ghosts are trying to posess the children to use them for their dark purposes.

I FOUND STELLA PARISH

3,5 STARS

USA 1935, Directed by: Mervyn LeRoy, Produced by: Harry Jow Brown.
With: Kay Francis, Ian Hunter, Paul Lukas, Sybil Jason, Jesse Ralph.

Stella Parish is a very famous theatre actress in England. She is popular, but her private lives remain a mystery in public. One day a vistor comes by and blackmails Stella. She decides to leave for the USA immediately. In disguise. To save her child from being harmed by the revelation of a dark, dark secret from the past. Nobody knows where StelIa is, just a clever journalist finds out. He sneaks into her life, makes her trust him and reveals her identity to the public. Not knowing what consequences he is triggering by it.

I was anxcious to watch this movie, because watching Kay Francis is always a great pleasure to me. The movie starts out a bit lame, but surely has some funny moments. One scene is outstanding and shows what a great actress Kay was. She is marvelous in the "press-conference"-scene. Other movies gave Kay more chances to show what she was able to do with her way of acting and she looked better in other movies, too. But this one is watchable, nevertheless.

FLIC OU VOYOU (COP OR HOOD)

ONE STAR

France 1979, Directed by: Georges Lautner, Camera: Henri Decaë, Music: Phillippe Sarde.
With: Jean-Paul Belmondo, Marie Laforêt, Michel Galabru, Georges Géret, Claude Brosset.

Crime Inspector Bertrand and a young prostitute get killed in a hotel room in Nice. While the police is trying to conceal the crime, Antonio Cerutti (Jean-Paul Belmondo) tries to solve the crime in his own way, with his own methods.

I have seen this misery happen before. In the late 70?s, early 80?s they made a bunch of tasteless, boring crime movies in France. I have seen it happen to Depardieu and now to Belmondo. Those movies pretend to have a fast pace, to show a hard-boiled hero, who is not willing to compromise. But what pretends to be funny, is just dull. What pretends to show a badass hero, just shows a disgusting, shallow and lame asshole character.

KRANKHEIT DER JUGEND (Disease Of Youth)

FOUR STARS

Germany 2010, Directed by: Dieter Berner, Camera: Dennis Pauls, Music: Daniel Dickmeis.
With: Stella Hilb, Matthias Weidenhöfer, Alina Levshin, Janin Stenzel, Nora Huetz, Florens Schmidt, Sebastian Brandes.

Seven young medical students live in Freder's house. Some are rich, some are poor and they are all very fond of using drugs. Freder owns the place and has an affair with Lucy, his cleaningwoman. And he likes to play around with his roommates feelings. Marie and Bubi want to move into their own flat- until Bubi falls in love with Irene. Daisy takes her chance to seduce Marie, Alf also wants to fuck Marie and Freder wants to marry her.

Although the play by Ferdinand Bruckner is from 1926, the search for moral standards and something you can rely on is very up-to-date.

Johnny Flash

FOUR STARS

Germany 1986, Directed by: Werner Nekes, Camera: Bernd Upnmoor and Serge Roman, Music: Helge Schneider, Produzent: Werner Nekes.
With: Helge Schneider, Andreas Kunze, Heike Melba-Fendel, Marianne Traub.

Jürgen Potzkothen (Helge Schneider) is an unemployed electrician, who shares a flat with his mother and wants to become a Schlager musician. He works hard to make his dream come true and finally two agents fight over him.

"If I can't hold you, I won't stay with you...." A very catchy tune.

Most of the roles were played by Helge Schneider and Andreas Kunze. All the musicians in this movie were played by Helge. (He even acts as a punk musician called "Christoph Schlingensief"!) It's pure trash and it's hilariously funny.

Hey there, I saw your quick review of Unforgiven and I was relieved to FINALLY come across someone who thinks it's overhyped and overrated. People unanimously praise this film, and I just don't get it. It's too long, the directing is oddly stiff for Eastwood's caliber, and it's overwrought with characters who serve no purpose! Anyway, just wanted to pass that long. It's nice to find like-minded people, especially when you think you're the only one who thinks a certain way!

Nice comments on 'The Hours'. I think it's a great film. And I agree that the music is too much - I find Glass's minimalism a little grating a tad overwhelming when applied as a film soundtrack (excepting his very special score for 'Mishima'). Personally I rate Kidman quite high here but I think she gets a big hand with excellent support from both Stephen Dillane and Miranda Richardson.
But I think any of the three main actresses would find it hard to top what they give here.

I love 'Them' and I very much liked your 'old man' analogy in your comments. As far as I'm concerned, those that sneer at 'dodgy' effects/cinematics - be it matte-painting, model shots, back-projection, 'toy' monsters, melodramatic acting - simply miss the point of cinema. I thrive on these elements! But cinema is having its soul excised because too many film-makers feel a need to be 'realistic' when the most important thing is credibility and integrity. AND faith in their audience to use their imagination. Cinema is a suspension of disbelief! Otherwise we'd just look out the window or watch the news!

I had a similar experience to the one you describe at a screening of 'Les diaboliques' in the late 80s. The heightened melodrama of the finale was just too much for a large portion of the audience who jeered and laughed loudly throughout and it totally ruined it for me.
Sometimes there's a lot to be said for watching films at home.

I wouldn't let it make you sad. They're the ones missing out and should be pitied ;)

I think Benjamin Button is the very least of David Fincher in many respects. But my biggest problem is one of over-indulgence: the visuals, the performances - Pitt and Blanchett are extremely cloying and, most of all, the over-reliance on the cgi/prosthetic aging effects alienated me hugely and stopped me empathising with the characters (I was always aware that it was a 'tinkered and touched up' Pitt!).
But I have to admit that the ending - as Button literally becomes a senile child - turned me into a blubbering wreck. That most certainly was because they used a real child instead of cgi and prosthetics.

I also thought Tilda Swinton's cameo was really lovely - but then I am totally biased! ;)

I think there has only been a handful of true Great films in the past decade (I made a list to honour those I feel qualify for the top spot) and Hunger is most assuredly near the top. It's a terrific piece of pure cinema - apart from the incredible dialogue sequence you allude to there must be all of about six or seven lines of actual speech in the whole film. Astonishing.
Along with Bright Star, The Assassination of Jesse James and (to some degree) A Serious Man, the greatness of these flics comes from the film-makers' investment in the audience's intelligence and patience and those willing to 'go with it' are thoroughly rewarded. They are refreshing in their antithesis of what I feel has gone a little rotten in modern cinema - the thrills now have to be obvious, in your face and instant (3D anyone?!). Nothing lingers anymore because it's all been handed to us on a plate

Haven't seen TESTAMENT yet, but I revere ORPHEUS. Have you seen both and if so would you say TESTAMENT equals or exceeds the former? (If you haven't seen both, I'm sure you'll want to rent the earlier film too).

I took a look at your hate mail and I must say, that guy's a fuckin' idiot (pardon my french). Anyone who says he's a fan of comedies then gives a movie like Norbit and The House Bunny a decent review should have his right to an opinion revoked. Those two movies are as insulting to the genre (and to intelligence) as they come. In the words of Eddie Murphy (back when he was actually funny) imitating Richard Pryor, "If he calls again tell him to suck MY dick." And as for telling him to read instead of watching movies, after looking at his taste in movies, I'm not really sure he knows how to. Why else would he only watch movies which require the minimum of intelligence?

Dear SirPant,

I do not want you to take this to offense as I might would have if someone else had put this upon me. This is simply my opinion. I don't want to over exaggerate nor hold back so here it goes. I do not think you are an interesting person as far as entertainment goes. Whenever I check out a good, beloved comedy (such as Wedding Crashers, Superbad, etc.), I always see that you rate it as awful, WHICH IS OKAY; everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Curious as I was, I check out your page and saw that you liked movies that to be quite honest, sucked and were complete and udder trash. I think I speak for all of us men out there when I say that comedies are better than crappy, stupid independent films such as a movie you like known as "Naked". There is one thing I hope for sure; I hope that God did not work on your sense of entertainment, because if that's the best he could do, then we're all in trouble. Once again, I do not want you to take this to offense. I said before that everyone if entitled to their own opinion (which I hope you agree with), and this is simply mine.

Sincerely,
xxltmoney

Ha, I was glad to note your comments on Chicago.
I saw this on the stage too and loved it so much I saw it again! So when I saw the film adaptation I was absolutely appalled. Terrible terrible terrible!!
They took a downright sexy show and made it as sensual and erotic as a pair of unwashed tights!
The main problem (for me at least) is that they removed Bob Fosse's choreography (the biggest draw for the show) and replaced it with galumphing and jumping around.
Then there was the casting. Richard Gere comes off worst. He is totally miscast (oily and toe-curling when he needed to be suave and insidious). He has the singing voice of a drowning pig and about as sexy as a silent fart. Catherine Zeta Jones, it has to said, is simply too fat for the part. And when are people gonna learn that this woman can not act?? And Renee Zellweger is annoying at the best of times. Her habit of talking out the side of her mouth sets my teeth on edge but here she sings that way as well. And she really is the unsexiest aspect here - she has the body of an adolescent boy - flat-chested, lean straight lines where there's supposed to be curves.
The only one who seemed to be getting it right was Queen Latifah who is great as Momma Morton. But the idiots cut some of her characters best numbers.
I know I probably sound mean-spirited but the makers of this sexless blob of a film should be hounded out of town for crimes against the musical in cinema.
For dark, sexy, edgy musicals with a Fosse kick and a bit of a satirical bite, see 'Cabaret' or 'All That Jazz' instead!

re: They Live -if you look closely, I swear that somewhere in that movie, there's a "subliminal" sign that reads, "Better Orgasm." God I loved that movie. It wasn't that great a movie, but the whole premise about the social control via messages commanding superficial values and mass consumption was so on-target!

Yes, you are right about the "not interested" tab, and I try to resist using it having thought it through over the last several months. I agree with you. Yet, some movies come along at that are so artistically and intellectually insulting, such as Camp Rock, that I cannot resist.

At the same time, I realize that I am a snob to condemn them: I am not in the target audience, the film was made to entertain people who like that sort of thing, it's commercially successful (which is the whole goddamn point of the business) and it's easy to shut one's mind to a potentially enjoyable film due to a poor description.

Yes, perhaps I shall resist the urge to express myself negatively in that way now that somebody has reinforced this paradigm.

Didn't Werner Herzog point out that film began as cheap pulp entertainment for uneducated immigrants? I seem to recall that he said it has it's roots in the circus, is not the realm of intellectuals or academics, and that it is about being assaulted with sensory experience, not intelligence.

This last part reminds me of Antonin Artaud's theory about the role of theatre, that inspired him to write Jet of Blood.

Nice one! Glad to know my film list serves a purpose beyond my own self-indulgence ;)
There really isn't anything like Harold and Maude. A real one-off.

I see where you're coming from on Matthew McConaughey. I can take him or leave him as a screen presence to be honest. I do struggle to think of a single film of his I like or even a performance of his I have been impressed by. But that could just be down to bad choices and his trading on his obvious looks (yawn). But I don't think he's screen presence is as totally reduntant as say Keanu Reaves (there's a mediocre actor who has the good sense choose his roles carefully) or Ben Affleck (who, wisely, has switched sides of the camera).
But my biggest problem is with Tom Hanks. I can think of no other screen actor that bores me so rigidly. I have a real aversion to anything he touches.

Hey thanks for your kind words.
Yes 8 1/2 is pretty stupendous isn't it?

I liked checking out your film list. Great to see Harold and Maude in there and Ed Wood (by far Burton's one and only true masterpiece). Also In Bruges (contains the single best use of the 'C' word in film - after American Beauty), Wall-E (a film I'm so in awe of I can't put into words), Badlands (the best film of the 70s American golden age), Lifeforce (under-rated Brit sci-fi of the old school), The Host (God forbid any remakes or sequels!) and A Matter Of Life And Death (love Powell & Pressburger).

I just went to the FAQ and nominated you twice. When I did, your profile came up with the Super Reviewer designation. Either somebody had already nominated you and my timing was highly coincidental, or you already were a super reviewer and I failed to notice. Either way, you should probably remove the lamentation from your profile now! Congratulations!

Wait, you already did. I must be imagining things. Early onset of Azheimers, I suppose. WEIRD!

Don't let the lack of "super reviewer" recognition get under your skin, even a little bit. Flixster seems to be very arbitrary as to whom they award this "distinction".

It began as a pat on the back that Flixster employees gave to members who were their friends. Now it seems to reward mediocrity. I am utterly amazed as to who has super reviewer status and who does not. Tell me why Countess Nenebelle lacks the SR suffix whilst a fraudulent, bloody imbecile like SexiVixen enjoys it. Take a close look at her comments and see how she racked up so many "reviews."

Flixster may make statements to the contrary, but the truth is, the company doesn't want reviews which are so lacking that they don't send sheep to the latest blockbuster, nor do they want anything that is too intellectually inaccessible. This is my hypothesis.

For confirmation, poke around online and look at all of their corporate mergers and affiliations. The founder himself stated in an interview that Flixster receives a lot of kickbacks for free user movie advertising. Our reviews are sent out to cellphones on request, etc, with priority given to those of so called "super reviewers." When we write our reccomendations, we work for Flixster for free.

Profanity in the reviews or on your page, risqué speech, the number of reviews, general quality of reviews, length of time as a member, etc. have nothing to do with it. Examine a good sampling of SR pages and you'll see this for yourself. Read the wording in the Super Reviewer FAQ and you'll find that being lauded as a super reviewer is really a rather patronizing recognition anyway.

So continue writing for people like me and thumb your nose at popularity contests. I think your reviews are excellent : intelligently thought-out, well-presented, and entertaining. For my money, members like HellShocked, OldKentuckySharkx, and SirPant will always be the "super reviewers" in my book.

JJ Abrams is doing the sequel, so I doubt anything will change any time soon.

Hellshocked

I understand that if the original series was going to be rebooted some changes needed to be made. Uhura needed a more prominent role as did the ethnic supporting characters (most of whom were there to make a point moreso than to have a genuine purpose). I have no problem with the changes to the characters, but the film sacrificed anything and everything that is Star Trek for the sake of cheap visual thrills. The officers never convened and had a discussion, nobody at any point ever stopped to think (they were far too busy moving and screaming) and the film turned what was once a hopeful beacon of democracy, a genuine federation, into a militaristic superpower. I'm not a Trekkie but I don't have to be in order to realize this is not Star Trek.

Unlike you, however, pretty much every Trekkie I know and have met absolutely loved the film. I loathed the trailers, but their enthusiasm is what got me to see the film in theaters in the first place.

I avoid them like the plague, and being broken up certainly gives me the chance to.

When I find myself sitting through the same film over and over and over (with a different title and cast, if that) my brain numbs.

Good luck on your filmwatching, may the ghosts of Kate Hudson, Sarah Jessica Parker and Will Ferrell simply wander by, mostly unnoticed, leaving no trace that they were ever there.

No problem, man. Anyone with "Ikiru", "Badlands", "Bubba Ho-Tep" and "Invaders from Mars" in their favorites list is alright in my book.

I'm glad you're enjoying the reviews, though I haven't really written more than a few words for a few weeks. Haven't been in that kind of mood. I like yours too. Keep em coming.
