Could be the best "devil movie" since the Exorcist. My friends and I were saying that is more of a thriller with a horror movie backdrop than it is a a straight horror. But regardless, It'll keep you on the edge of your seat and the scares aren't cheep.
Read The Demonologist by Ed & Lorraine Warren. There was also a book written about the experience by the one of the daughters I think that I have yet to read but need to find.
Best horror movie/thriller I've seen in a really long time! Highly recommended.
This was on the movie channel last night and surprisingly I'd never seen it before. It's pretty much got everything you want out of a cheesy 80s/90s Van Damme action flick, but looking back at it retrospectively, I think if was watching this for the first time in 1993, I might have thought it was a little weak. The action sequences are fine enough, but it seems there could have been more. A couple of highlights:
*JCVD, spectacular mullet!!! * Arnold Vosloo looks exactly like Joe Flacco * A LOT of slow motion shots, especially in the beginning. From sexy looks from the girl, badass looks from Van Damme, and every punch in between. * There's one action sequence where Van Damme keeps standing up on a motorcycle several times. It's seemed a little unnecessary and very dangerous. * Wilford Brimley does a fantastic Cajun accent! * Who are the crew of hunters at the end of the movie and what are they wearing? They all seem to be some kind of stereotype of a characterture (that's right, it's like 2 levels deep of WTF)
You don't need to see this movie or even revisit it. But if there is truly nothing else on TV and this happens to be on, it's worth a laugh or 2.
Was pleasantly surprised! Thought it might be a marginally okay comedy with a few chuckles in it, but even though I heard it was good I still wasn't sure. It really delivers. A lot of funny jokes, couple of funny running jokes. I loved Michael Keaton in it.
I like Will Ferrell, but sometimes he just plays that same guy in every movie, and I like that, he's funny. But here he still has his Will Ferrellness about him but he seems to try and take on a different character and seems to put a little more effort into the roll. It's a really fun flick!
Derek Jeters' got some chops. He was in it for only a minute but he didn't screw it up, he seemed pretty natural.
Great new Daniel Craig Bond flick! I highly recommend it! Great villain (probably my favorite so far out of the the 3 new Bond movies), and just really well done. Beautiful to look at, interesting the whole time. Watch this movie.
To nit-pick... Ok, I get it already with the young vs old, new tech vs. "the old way" they kind of hammer that into too much of the movie I thought. Not really a complaint, but there were less over the top action scenes in this one, which actually I kind of liked. It made it more of a drama. Spoiler... I loved it when he busted out the old Austin Martin with the ejector seat.
This was on TV the other night. I saw this twice in the theater. Pretty much the perfect 80's buddy cop action movie. Complete with terrible script, totally unrealistic situations, over the top action, a lot of explosions, and of course Sly Stallone and Jack Burton.
If you haven't seen this movie for a while, do yourself a favor and check this out again. It's totally F.U.B.A.R.
