Here's a film that starts out extremely interesting and full of energy and just goes downhill all the way to the end. The first half of the film has a unique balance of comedy, romance and scifi armageddon drama. But about halfway thru (following a fun chain restaurant sequence) it drops it's arty tightrope and goes full bore for the maudlin romance and essentially stops trying to make sense or cultivate the fact that the world is going downhill.
I just saw "Lincoln" - geez is this movie horrible. I can't believe people are talking about this being an Oscar contender....oh wait...Spielberg's film didn't have vampires? How about an Abe Lincoln actor who looks nothing like Abe Lincoln? I mean come on, people know I am up for oddball movies, but this flick just plain stupid and stupid-uninteresting. The CGI looked horrible on the small screen and the climactic battle on top of a train was even way too over the top for video game boys. I seriously mean this when I say it - the best part of the film were the very cooly composed end credits.
