    The Collector (2009)

This kind of caught me off guard. A refreshingly simple story shot extremely well on a tiny budget, with a great cast and one hell of a creepy villain. But the best aspect for me is director Dunstan's innate skill with mood and style, able to create a claustrophobic atmosphere that just suffocates the audience and leaves you more would up than a guitar string.

I don't at all understand the negative reviews this film has been getting...it's not the most original film (though the core concept hasn't been executed much), and some of the traps are a bit silly. But the violence is used smartly and pretty tastefully (no gore for gores sake, for example), and there is nary a moment that rang false. If you have the opportunity, give this one a chance.
