  • The Town

    The Town (2010)

    May 28, 2012

Ben Affleck directs & stars with an A list cast featuring Jeremy Renner & Jon Hamm in this engaging crime/drama called "The Town". "The Town" takes places in Boston about a group of professional bank robbers who pull off a number of heists. They have always been a head of the Boston State Police Department. That all changes when one of the bank robbers named "Doug", (Ben Affleck) gets involved with a female hostage named "Claire", (Rebecca Hall) that him & his crew kidnapped. Later on, Doug & Claire start developing a relationship that leads Doug down a dark road that puts his life on the line with the cops & his gang. Now Doug must figure out what is more important to him before everything that he cares about is gone.

Seeing the "The Town" for the first time, my expectations were a little above average. After it was over, it exceeded my expectations beyond belief. I couldn't get over of how exciting & thrilling "The Town" ended up being. From the very beginning to the explosive conclusion I was hooked on the edge of my seat with exhilarating suspense & drama. Ben Affleck is on his way of being a great director. I found it amazing how Ben could star, direct & write at the same time. Affleck did it exceptionally well. I loved the way Affleck captured the gritty realism in this world that he created. He made you feel for everything that you were watching. Affleck knows how to shoot a film with style. One of the things that he knows how to shoot is a action set piece. When there is a shootout taking place in the film, you can feel the impact of the bullets making it seem that it actually feels like its happening around you. The shootouts are shot so well that the camera is steady where you can see what all is going on. The heist that involves robbing an armored truck is my favorite scene in the film & probably the most intense shootout I've seen since "Heat". When the assault rifiles go off, its like fire works going off. Even though this isn't exactly an action film, it features some of the most breathtaking shootouts in movie history. In my opinion, "The Town" is more of a character drama more than anything else. I think Affleck wanted the audience to feel for the characters in the film showing us how well he can work with actors. All the performances here shine. Ben Affleck has always been one of my favorites. Pretty much everything he is in, I'll watch. Affleck does a great job carrying his role. Jeremy Renner stole the show for me. He was just so into his character bringing his role to life. I didn't know nothing about Jeremy until I saw him in this film. Jeremy proved that he can outclass other actors that has been around longer than him. Rebecca Hall is another I wasn't fond of. I thought she was very good with her part. Rebecca brought so much emotion & fear making it believable enough for you to root for her character. Last & for most, the incredible Jon Hamm who plays the cop on Affleck's tail. I didn't know nothing about this actor either other than that he has been in a TV show. Jon can act just as well as Renner. They are my two top actors that have hit my top. Jon brings so much charisma & control with his character making him a blast to watch on screen. Overall, If you like crime drama's with a little great action thrown in, then "The Town" is up your alley. Expect to witness astonishing performances, great script & some heart pounding action sequences that's not to be missed. "The Town" is an expertly directed & acted sensational experience which makes it the best film of 2010.

  • Live Free or Die Hard

Live Free or Die Hard (2007)

    January 29, 2012

Officer John McClane (Bruce Willis) is back in this fast paced action packed adrenaline rushed fourth installment, Live Free or Die Hard. John is now a Detective with a daughter all grown up thats not too fond of him. One night, John gets assigned to pick up a computer hacker named Matthew Farrell, (Justin Long). As soon as John gets to Farrell, heavily armored bad guys tear Farrells place apart with huge amount of gunfire. John & Farrell barely escape. With Farrell's life on the line, John is trying to figure out why someone would want Farrell dead, Later on, John finds out that a psychotic mastermind named Thomas Gabriel, (Timothy Olyphant) is holding the world for ransom. As John gets closer & closer to Gabriel, things become more dangerous and personal for him.

Live free or Die Hard is my favorite out of the Die Hard franchise. It is very entertaining filled with alot of high voltage action sequences that never let up. The action stunts were so real which made this movie even better to watch. My favorite sequence was when John McClane blew up a hellicopter with a car & he said he was out of bullets. That was the best memorable scene of the movie. Even though this one was PG-13, I still found it kinda of violent. You don't see blood when someone gets shot but it damn sure is intense. I don't see why everyone is complaining about the rating. I mean if all they want is McClane to say the F word every second, then sure. I have to admit that I was a little disappointed hearing this one was being toned down unlike the previous three at first. After I finished watching it, I realized the rating fit perfect. So with the PG-13 rating, that still doesn't make this one the least out of the franchise. I still think this was the best one where it had so much more exciting & thrilling moments. There will be some that won't buy the unbelievible script. It works for a film like this. It was still a hell lot of fun to watch. If yall say that the third Die Hard is better than this one only for the language, then you all are retarded. These movies were not made for the language. They were made specifically for the gritty action/violence. Overall, Live Free or Die Hard still continues to be my #1 film of all time. I recommend this one if your fan of the franchise or just if your all into action flicks.

Bruce Willis does another outstanding job as our hero. I just love seeing him having fun with this character. When you think of John McClane, only one word comes to mind, badass! No other actor has talent like this guy does. Bruce was made for acting because he always makes his character's believible. He's great in everything that he's in which makes him a legend. Bruce still manages to b my #1 actor. Bruce is irreplaceable in that spot. Long live the great Bruce Willis. yippie kay yay!

Timothy Olyphant was very dark & full of anger as Thomas Gabriel. I thought Gabriel was John McClane's worst nemesis so far. The fact that Gabriel had the guts to take John's daughter & tried to kill him. From seeing Timothy's performance in this movie, he is now officially one of my favorite actors. Timothy has the right stuff to play any character he wants. Hope to see him take on more evil roles in the future because I think thats what he's best at.

What can I say about Justin Long, BRILLANT!!! Justin's acting ceases to improve everytime i see him star in a film. Justin almost stole his film by his intelligence. It was defenitly a shocker for me to see Justin take on a role of a computer hacker who has to have smarts into knowing what he's doing. He definitely pulled it off. Justin is a well gifted actor. I can't wait to see him take on more roles in the future. Justin is the most talented young adult actor yet!

The young a sexy Mary Elizabeth Winstead who played John's daughter, Lucy. All I can say is she's on her way to a great career. Mary has a big future ahead of her. She also looks like she could pass for a model as one of the sexiest young actresses. Mary played her role very well & made an impact in this installment by portraying McClane's daughter.

Maggie Q who was Olyphant's hot asian operator/assassin made her character believable enough. Maggie is the first asian actress that can actually act. I just loved watching her kick John's butt & listening to her sexy deep voice. Maggie should pass for a model too. Hope to see her in more films such as action like this one. Maggie is one my favorite actresses that has a bright future in the acting business. Hope she keeps up the good work showing her acting ability & her sexy self.

Whoever hasn't seen this film yet, go out & grab yourself a copy either on DVD or Bluray. I would recommend it more on bluray with the high rating picture/audio it received. The only thing that sucks about the Unrated copy that its only fit for DVD. The Unrated one is the best because it has alot of scenes that wern't shown in the original. Trust me this movie is worth buying & adding to your collection. It's the best Die Hard yet and action film ever!

    John McClane: "Yippi-kay-ay, motherfu - "

John McClane: I'm going to go kill this guy & get my daughter or go get my daughter & kill this guy, kill all of them.

John McClane: Mai? Oh, yeah. Little Asian chick, likes to kick people? I don't think she's gonna be talkin' to anybody for a really long time. Last time I saw her she was at the bottom of a elevator shaft with an SUV rammed up her ass.

John McClane: Yeah, you had to dispatch all units for all the naked people walkin' around?

John McClane: I know I'm not as smart as you guys with all this computer shit. But, hey... I'm still alive, ain't I? I mean, you've *got* to be running out of bad guys by now, right? Huh? Gabriel? Honestly, you can tell me. I mean, how does that work? Got some kind of service or something? Some kind of 800 number? 1-800-HENCHMEN? Oh, you know what? I bet you're still on hold with, "Can I get another dead Asian hooker bitch over here right away?"

John McClane: I could come and find you, kick your ass and throw you out of your own party. What do you think about that, dickhead?

  • Resident Evil: Afterlife

    Resident Evil: Afterlife (2010)

    January 29, 2012

Resident Evil: Afterlife is the fourth entry in the video game movie franchise. After Alice's clones wreck the the umbrealla cooperation in Tokyo, the sinister Wesker ends up escaping by destroying Alice's clones along with Tokyo. The real Alice finds Wesker & ends up loosing gain of the T-Virus. Now, Alice must go on a journey to search for survivors who will help her take on the rest of the umbrealla cooperation & the undead before the infection keeps on spreading.

Afterlife is probably the best that has come close to the games. That being said, with the plot, acting & pacing, I can't say this is a good film. In my opinion, Its the worst in the series. Its not terrible but its far from good. Afterlife is decent at best & it should be glad that I'm giving it that. Afterlife opens up with a huge battle featuring Alice clones fighting against umbrella security in Tokyo. That just so happened to be the best scene in the film for me. After Tokyo gets destroyed, it begins to drag until 50 minutes into the film where the action picks up again. From there, the action is pretty much nonstop til the end. Its just not as thrilling like the opening sequence was. Still, the action sequences were fun while they lasted. Now for the plot. All I have to say is "Really? Alice looses all of her strength from the T-Virus but yet she still manages to act like she still has it being a human. yea, that makes sense. So I just went with the stupid plot and along for the ride, even though I felt awkward doing so. All your going to get from this entry is silly action that doesn't make any sense what so ever. I guess thats just the way video game movies are now days. No wonder they don't succeed. The first three entries were so much better & more exciting. This one just falls apart from what could have been the best one in the series if it hadn't been for so many holes. I don't know what Paul W.S. Anderson was thinking but that was not filmmaking. It seemed that Paul relied on effects & just forgot about everything else. I have to give him credit for some of the things he brought to this film. One, being the effects/make-up. The CGI was good with an infected zombie opening its mouth. Another was the zombie dogs. They looked disgustingly deadish. When they transformed, the CGI was amazing! Thats the way effects need to be done in every movie. So, Paul spent his money wisely throwing all of that in. I also have to give points for the 3D as well. Its possibly the best 3D I have seen. Everything was pretty much in your face. Now, thats what I call 3D. I think Paul also made a good decision bringing the character of Chris & some of the infected to life from the Resident Evil 5 game. That was probably his smartest move for this film. My biggest complaint about the film was the atrocious acting. It was so hard to watch these actors including Mila at times using these cliched lines. It seemed like they were rehersing for a play. Thats how bad it was. I can't really put the actors down for that since the director can't give them anything to work with. These actors have so much potential but yet the director won't give them a chance to bring out their star power. Overall, Afterlife is fun but still a fairly decent movie. I can just only hope the fifth one makes up for it by pacing, acting & plotting issues. Im still all into the Resident Evil series but if they keep turning out like this one, my feelings might change. I recommend Afterlife if your only a fan of the series and games. Afterlife is still watchable but nothing special. I'm giving Afterlife three stars only for the action and mildly entertaining experience.

  • Takers

    Takers (2010)

    January 28, 2012

Takers is a suspenseful heist thriller about a team of inconspicious crooks who are always one step ahead of the police force. After an ex-con mastermind named Ghost is loose from prison, he joins his band of thugs to bring down the biggest heist yet. When the heist goes down, the crooks come across betrayal & deception putting their lives on the line against everything they stand for.

Takers was a surpirsingly enjoyable crime/thriller thanks to the casting & direction of the film. The plot grips you from the get go & doesnt let up. The action hits hard when shown even though there isn't a whole lot. I still thought there was a fair amount thats really fun to watch. Takers is filled with exciting thrilling moments throughout the run-time of the film. There is one big action set piece in particular that involves an armored truck that I thought was absolutely flawless. Im not going to spoil it because its a excellent well shot scene that gets your blood pumping. There might be a few people that will complain about the shootout towards the end. You will either like or hate it. I'll just leave it at that. In my opinion, i liked it! It's different where it creates more intensity & grittiness without soundfield. You will see what i mean when you witness it. The acting isn't oscar worthy but its passable for a film like this. I was actually surprised by some of the new acting talent. My first one goes out to rapper artist T.I. Harris. Coming from a rapper, I thought he made his character believible. T.I makes a commanding presence throughout the film. T.I. actually passed for a criminal in my book. The second one is singer Chris Brown. Chris didn't really have much to work with where his character was undeveloped but when he had lines, he made them work. There is also a chase sequence featuring Chris doing his own stunts. It was a pretty jaw dropping moment where it was hard for me to believe that was Chris Brown doing all that. All I have to say is Wow! I think Chris has a career in acting just like T.I. does. Most people will disagree with me by trash talk saying thats kind of stupid. No matter what people might think, I will always stick to my opinions. Everyone else that is known to me like the incredible Idris Elba, entertaining Paul Walker & epic Matt Dillion held up their end. I do however think that sexy Zoe Saldana should have had more screen time. Zoe's character was just wasted. It seemed like the director only gave her a part for eye candy. I can't say I don't blame him since Zoe is extremely hott. As much as I find Zoe attractive, I still think there is more to her than her looks. Zoe will never get a shot to prove she's something more unless she can get bigger roles. The only complaint I had with the film was the conclusion. It leaves you wanting more wondering what happens next. It would be nice if they made a sequel. I think this is a start of what could be made into a franchise. Overall, Takers is far from great but it is a good show. I know there will be people saying that they have seen this all before. I can just say that this is one of the better heist thrillers. In the past, heist thrillers were not this entertaining. Takers is pretty much Heat meets The Town. I recommend Takers if you like crime/thrillers & the cast. Takers is an extremely fun gripping heart pounding action packed crime suspense thriller that will not be soon forgotten.

  • Piranha 3-D

    Piranha 3-D (2010)

    July 12, 2011

Horror Director (Alexandre Aja) that brought us "The Hills Have Eyes" unleashes terror once again about man eating killing machine piranhas that attack small lake full of teens who have nowhere to hide as their being hunted down one by one beneath the surface in this gruesome bloodsoaked gorefest, "Piranha".

As I walked into watch this for the first time on the big screen I didn't really know what to expect except for piranha attacks. Which is all I wanted from this. Apparently, Piranha had a bit more to it than just that. Yea, you get the bloody attacks which is sometimes hard to stomach. You also get Porn as the Piranha madness is going on. To me, for a film like this, I think went way over the top with the nudity. Its not that I don't mind some female nudity every once in a while where I am a guy but when you label a title about fish, thats all everybody wants to see. This isn't Girls Gone Wild. Which is what the movie should've been called with Piranhas on the end of the title. Anyway, I didn't really complain too much about it where the blood & gore was over the top, i guess everything else should be too. This film is defenitely not for children. I would advise the parents not to bring their young ones to watch this. Wait until their about 17 or higher. Thats the proper age to watch R-rated movies anyways. Piranha got slapped with a huge R in the case where it came close to being X-rated. They had to cut alot to get that R-rating was what I heard.

Anyway, I had a blast with Piranha. It brings back those classic monster movies from the 80's like Jaws. If I was making this film, I wouldn't water the rating down. It sits perfect with all the violence where somebody could really end up looking like that after getting eaten by hundreds of those Piranhas. That is a scary thought. Piranha is definitely entertaining escapist fun but not for the faint of heart. Just sit back & watch these Piranhas tear apart characters that you don't even care about unless your a guy that doesn't want to see a ton of Piranhas eat a beautiful model. I have to admit, there was a hotty in here that was rooting for to live. I'm not going spoil whether she survived or not. You"ll just have to see it for yourself. That is, if you can make it that far. When the Piranha attacks come, they hit fast & furious as you get to witness the razor teethed fish rip people to shreads in the most gruesome ways you've ever seen on screen. I thought the gore effects looked real for the most part. Some of it, it was hard for me to bare but as it went on I got use to it.

I thought the CGI in this film relating to the Piranhas was the best I've seen. In certain scenes they look fake but in some they look realistic as they can get. Like when the Piranhas are floating around, they look good. When their attacking underwater, not so much. I didn't mind that though because they had to make them look that way as in their not eating a real live person. I was actually surprised that everything else was over the top except for the fish. So if you like effects, you'll get really excited over that.

The cast pretty much stood on there own. It was good to see Richard Dreyfuss & Christopher Lloyd with their small camos. I like Elizabeth Shue even though It was hard for me sometimes to buy her as the Sheriff. Ving Rhames was awesome as her Deputy. The one who made it for me was Jerry O'Connel. The dude is freaking hillarious. There's something in the middle of the film where something happens to him. All I have to say, is when it happens, I was rolling on the ground laughing. I didn't really care for the rest of the cast as they were not as likeable as the others. Overall, Piranha is not what I was expecting it to be but it was still enjoyable. Thats all I can ask for a summer film. Piranha is definitely one to watch with a bunch of friends. Maybe drunk at that point where this movie goes beyond insainity. I didn't have to be drunk to watch it. So if i can watch it being normal, Im sure you can too. If you don't have a strong stomach, forget about watching this because you will be sick before the time it's over with. I would recommend this more for guys than i would girls just for the sake of the female nudity. Piranha is one hell of a exciting fun horror thrill ride that packs a punch full of over the top pornography & nonstop swarming bloodsoaking killer fish attacks.

  • The Expendables

    The Expendables (2010)

    July 01, 2011

Director & action star, Sylvester Stallone brings every action hero together for the first time to form this explosive action-packed adventure thriller called The Expendables. The Expendables is about a team of mercenaries led by, Barney Ross (Sylvester Stallone) who always seems to get the job done what ever the cost. After a bloody massacre where Barney & his troops featuring Lee Christmas, (Jason Statham), Yang (Jet LI) & Gunnar, (Dolph Lundgren) take out a bunch of thugs on a ship, their called back into action as a member of the C,I,A. called Mr. Church (Bruce Willis) hires them a job to go on a mission to South America in a town called Villena to take down a leader called General Gaza, (David Zayas) who has a number of soldiers protecting him. Meanwhile a drug lord (Eric Roberts) comes to overthrow Villena with his bodyguard (Steve Austin) along by his side, As the The Expendables are on their mission, Barney & Lee go to Villena to spy on Gaza where they meet a woman named Sandra who ends up helping them. Things begin to get bad for Barney & Lee as they get caught when the South America troops find out they are their illegally. When the drug lord & Gaza find out that The Expendables are on to them, things go bad to worse as they end up getting double crossed & set-up. When that happens, Barney & his team decide to complete their mission by getting revenge in an battle only they know can win.

The Expendables is probably the best action film that has came out since the 80's all thanks to Sylvester Stallone. Only Sylvester could think of bringing every action star on screen & give us action junkies what we came to the movie's for. Sylvester knows how to deliver the goods. The Expendables really packs a punch as were thrown in with strong action including nonstop gunfights & mindblowing explosions, & graphic bloody violence . Everything is here that you want from an action movie. The violence here isn't as pervasive as Rambo was but it gets pretty raw with the shootings & stabbings. If I had to pick my favorite Expendable I definitely pick Statham's character, Lee Christmas. Statham is just a bad ass when it comes to his character as he's the weapons expert of the team. You get to see Statham throwing knives at enemys which is always a pleasure to see. Statham pulled his character off nicely where it seemed he had fun time playing his part. Sylvester Stallone is always good in these type of roles. Their were times where I thought his acting was forced but I dealt with it. For the most part, Stallone & Statham had good chemistry making their friendship believible.

I had a couple of complaints with this film. firstly, is the title of the flick. which is why the movie failed at being the best action film of out times. When you name a title more than one person, then you need to stick to it. The biggest mistake that you can make is changing it up to something different. I mean, I know it was Stallone's film where he wanted to be in it more but come on. To me, it seemed like he didn't care about the other team except for Statham's character. Stallone & Statham were pretty much stuck together most of the film. I just don't know why Stallone wouldn't give the other chracters as much screen time as Stathams & his. So thats what i depised about the film because their was no depth to the other Expendables. What little screen time the other Expendables had was worthy. Jet Li showed that he's still a master at martial arts. What I also liked was that Li showed some acting ability. I think Stallone helped him out in the department. Li is also funny when he wants to be. It was good to see Dolph Lundgren in a big budget film again. Dolph needs to stay away from those direct to video & stick with these. They suit him better. Anyway I loved Dolph's character. Dolph was just as bad ass as Statham in my opinion which makes him my second best character of the film. Dolph also looked like he enjoyed taking on his role as well. Everytime I witnessed Dolph confronting Stallone, I thought of Rocky 4. So it was a real treat seeing those two together in the same film again. Terry Crews is one of those next. Terry is also one of my favorites as he makes the films his own by having fun with them. Whats so great about Crew's character is that he has this big huge shotgun with a grenade launcher where he just blows shit up. Its awesome when that happens. What makes it so fun to watch is the loudness of his weapon. Eric Roberts is another one that I loved seeing back on the big screen since his small role in the Dark Knight. I suggest Eric to stay away from low budget films. He's too good for it. I thought Eric played an evil drug lord. Eric made his character out of where the audience can hate him. So Eric did a good job at that. The weakest of the cast is prabably Randy Couture & Steve Austin. I guess where there wasn't anything for them to work with, that was the reason why nobody cared for them. Even the showdown between them wasn't interesting. Seem like that was what everybody was waiting on & they didn't deliever. What a said payoff. Maybe next time Couture & Austin will have a bigger parts & show us what their made of.

My second conplaint that almost killed the film for me was the terrible CGI during the action scenes. Seriously Stallone, you direct action great no doubt about it, but why did you have to use CGI where crap was blowing up? Some of the explosions looked realistic but towards the end when they blew the palace up, it exploded by falling down like dominos which was a dreadful to watch. I still can't get over it when watch that scene. Since I heard their doing a sequel, I hope they really fix that problem. Bring back the war action from the 80's where CGI didn't exist. Thats what fans want to see. I didn't complain about the plot as much because thats not what these type of films are made for. Its suppose to b all out action film, nothing more & nothing less. Thats all fans can ask for & by witnessing the action in this film, it succeeded in that field. Overall, if your a fan of the cast, Rambo, or just a junkie for action, then this film is definitely a keeper. I just hope the next one has a bigger budget, better plot, character depth, & better CGI if thats all their using now days. The Expendables is an entertaining fast paced explosive wall to wall action fest that will keep you glued til the kick ass finale.

As Sam is with the alien robot, other aliens like itself begin to arrive to join. Optimus Prime, leader from the alien clan also known as the Autobots tells Sam that the reason why their there & that is to get an item from Sam to lead them to a crystal box called the allspark. While Sam is leading the Autobots on a journey for the allspark, another batch of alien robots come to earth to get the allspark too only these are not friendly that call theirselves Decepticons led by menacing alien named Megatron. Now, Sam & humanity are in the fight for their lives as they are stuck in a war waging between Autobots & Decepticons.

Transformers is a pretty big scifi action film. I wasn't expecting to get much from it but it exceeded my expectations. I didn't get nothing more or less from this film. I got just the right amount that i wanted which made Transformers a good scifi/action film come to life. Michael Bay must've put his heart & soul into this film as he gave us the best CGI effects that I have ever seen a film. The digital effects were just mindblowing. If i had to give this fim an award, I would give it for the effects. They don't get any better than this. The action scenes are beyond amazing. They have a centatn extent that enjoyable to watch whiles its on screen. Their are some pretty cool alien robots here that i actually have taken a liking to. If I had to choose my favorite out of the bunch I would choose Ironhide who is kickass with cannon's on each side of this arms. You'll see exactly what I mean when you watch the battle scene towards the end. Now for the film's story, ehh it was alright not going to say it was great but it wasn't bad either. Atleast they gave us something intresting to get drawn into for the run-time of the film. Overall, I really enjoyed Transformers. I think that many will take a liking to & expect more to come. The acting was decent. Don't expect oscar worthy acting but it was good to make the characters likeable enough. the film has some pretty big names like the young and talented Shia LaBeouf who is one of my favorite actors. Shia keeps on improving every film he stars in. If he keeps it up, he will go far which i hope he does. Pop Artist Tyrese Gibson who also gives me a good laugh. Tyrese is also another good one here. I don't know about Megan Fox. I mean she needs a little work but I think she can do better if she believes in herself. As much as Megan can't act for a lick in this film, she's still easy to look with how sexy she is. As for the rest of the cast, I did't really care for them as much but they all have a promising future in the acting business. Transformers is just set on incredible entertainment that has to be seen. So if you like scifi, action, adventure, drama or comedy, this is the one to see. Im sure yall will enjoy it as much as i did. Transformers is a huge scifi action smash hit that takes off like a rollercoaster from hell that delivers heartpumping action to start off what may be one of the biggest franchises ever.

Revenge of the Fallen is an action-packed thrill ride sequel from the first that steps the action up really high this time around. In this one, Sam (Shia Labeouf) starts off for his first year of college. Sam thinks that he's going to have a better live beliving that the war against autobots & decepticons are over. One day, Sam finds out that the war is far from over when he finds a missing piece of the all spark that he thought killed Megatron. When Sam notices that, the all spark starts to turn almost everything in his house into a decepticon that tries to kill him. His guardian known as Bumblebee shows up & saves him & his family by destroying them. After that Sam's girlfriend Mikaela (Megan Fox) who surprises him by showing up before he heads to college. After Sam & Mikaela spend time with each other, they say goodbye & hope to communicate while their away from one another. When Sam arrives at college, he settles down & meets his roomate named Leo (Ramon Rodriquez) who supposely thinks that he's witnessed aliens among their planet but Sam tries to keep it a secret by telling him that their is none. Meanwhile, Sam gets a distressed call from one of his good friend autobots Optimis Prime who warns his that something terrible is about to happen & he wants Sam to be safe. Sam thinks that what Optimis is telling him isn't true till he reacts to something that hits his mind. When that affects Sam, Megatron gets ressurected by his evil decepticons that wants him to unleash one of the most original decepticon leaders of his find called the Fallen, a unstoppable decepticon where only Optimis Prime can take him out. From there, Megatron hunts down Sam by wanting to get into his mind to see what he knows. Now, Optimus & the other autobots must stop Megatron & his decepticons in a battle for the world by protecting Sam & make sure that the Fallen doesn't get free or life as we know it will not cease to exist anymore.

Revenge of the Fallen was a very good action-packed scifi adventure. This sequel almost beat out the first. It had the more action involving battle scenes & explosions & lots of robots. There's only one reason why it didn't feel it was great as the first & that was the over the top humor it had in it. I just don't understand why Director Michael Bay would put all that in a summer action movie when thats all its really suppose to have is action. I just thought that was just so utterly disappointing to me. I mean what was Michael Bay thinking about transformers? He made them act so stupid thoughout where they do sexual things & curse just like the humans do. Michael also thought it would be good to give robot balls. I thought that was going over the line right there. Everything else was good. Only if they left out all that humor, this one would be better than the first but it didn't come out like that. The reason why I'm not watering down this movie no more than 4 stars is b/c I really enjoyed this film. It's one thats just watch & have fun experiencing. I think what saved this movie for me was the battle sequences. They were off the chain especially the last battle that was the greatest I've ever seen in any action movie. That scene will defeniely go down as the best memorable action scenes ever filmed. There's nothing to say about the acting b/c this film wasn't made for that. It was only made to watch the alien robots battle it out & thats exactly what it gave me. Overall, Revenge of the Fallen is nowhere near perfect or great but it's really good time if you make it like that. Revenge of the Fallen is a high explosive scifi thrill ride thats filled with nonstop action that's driven with humor & astonishing entertainment.

    Predators (2010)

    June 29, 2011

Robert Rodriquez brings back everyone's favorite sci/fi creature feature in this hard-hitting bloodsplattering action-packed sequel event, 'Predators". This time, a band of stone cold killers embark a mysterious planet run by devious warrior aliens. Each killer starts being hunted down one by one. As this goes on, the killers unravel clues leading them that much closer to who & why that person would want them dead.

Predators definitely brought back the 80's feel of the first one for me. It was so close to being as great as the first too if it hadn't been for some chessy CGI with its low budget. Other than that, Predators turned out really fun & exciting while it lasted. One thing I was really impressed with, was how they kept the theme of the original. They didn't remix it or nothing. So that came as a shock to me as it put a big smile on my face. One thing that I couldn't figure out that was asking myself the entire time as the film went on was "Is this a sequel or remake? The reason I wonder about that is because the planet was formed into a jungle. Which so happened to be exactly the same setting as the first. I also noticed some similar scenes from the original. For instance, when Billy stayed behind & tried to fight off the Predator in the first one. Here that Yakuzza dude does the same thing only he puts up a better fight. i thought was kick-ass as the Yakusa cut the one of the new Predators about once or twice. There were plenty more scenes that felt like the first but they changed them up a bit so they wouldn't be exacltly the same. I'm glad that this is not a remake because the original does not deserve to be rebooted especially where it starred best action hero of our times, Schwarzenegger. I really like how Robert made these new breed of Predators so much different than the original ones. They looked more badass in my opinion. They were much stronger faster hunters. I also really liked the way they featured the original Predator in the film having a fight scene against the new one. It was just go to show what the new ones are made of. I'm not going to spoil which one wins the fight. You'll just have to see for yourself. In a way its predictable & then again it's not. All I have to say, is that it was a good showdown. Now, for the action & violence. This one is definitely & I mean definitely a hard R. It's probably the most violent of the series. Even more pervasive than AVP: Requiem which that one is miles away being as good as this one. You get lots of bloody deaths containing grotesque grisly images that are sometimes hard to watch. There's gunfights & explosions pretty much throughout that are staged very well. Their all fun & entertaining to watch. If you like blood/gore like me, than you'll think it's just awesome. To me, thats the highlight for these kind of films. The acting was good. Adrien Brody pulled off a great mercenary. His dialogue sounded like Batman but it was still bearable. There were parts towards the ending where I thought Brody was trying to be too much like Schwazenegger. I hate to break bad news to ya Brody, you are no Schwarzenegger. No matter how many steroids you take. I still give Adrien credit for holding his own. Alice Braga is one of those next as I found her completely attractive for a woman in a combat uniform. Don't get too many women in those kind of roles nowdays. I thought Alice & Adrien had good chemistry between each other. Danny Trejo had a minemum screen time as he wasn't in the film very long. Whoops! just spoiled that for yall sorry. Seriously everytime he's in a film like this especially with one working with Rodriquez, when have you ever witnessed him having more screentime? The answer is never. In From Dusk Til Dawn, he was a vampire he died & Desperado he was a vicious killer & he also died. So there you have it. once you see Danny in a film that involves hunting, you know right off whats going to happen to him. Last but not certainly not least is the magnificient Lawrence Fishburne. He probably had the best lines in the film where he brought humor & seriousness side. Overall, if your looking for escapism, fan of the genre or Predators, look no further. If you want those things, you got them. Predators is the second best in the series where its not that much behind the first. Just a few things to change that & it would've been right up there with it. Predators is a dark nonstop sci/fi actionier full of heartpounding suspense & glorified violence.

    Salt (2010)

    June 28, 2011

Salt is the new & better Bourne in this stylish adrenaline rushed action-thriller about a government agent named "Evelyn Salt", (Angelina Jolie) who is the best at what she does. One day, that all changes when Evelyn interrogates a russian spy who threatens to kill the President of the United States. The russian tells Evelyn that he has another comrade in the U.S thats helping him do that. The russian spy begins to look towards & tells Evelyn that she is the the same as he is. After Evelyn witnesses that, she & other agents Peabody, (Chiwetel Ejiofor) & Winter (Liev Schreiber) cannot believe what they were hearing as the readings from everything the russian spy said about Evelyn was true. Now, Evelyn is a fugitive on the run from her agency out trying to bring her in while she's on a mission to find out who she really is & who set her up by turning into a cold blooded assassin to prove that she's innocent.

I was very much pleased with Salt. I knew my hopes for the film wouldn't drop. They actually just rised higher than they were before i watched it. Being a big Angelina Jolie & action fan i knew it would succeed my expectations & it did. To me, I think Salt was last years best summer film as it was locked & loaded with entertaining fast-pace jaw dropping in your face action within it's run-time. The only reason this didn't get 5 stars from me was for the run-time & for some minor issues during the action sequences. For the run-time, it made the film seem way too short where the film just flew by & ended just like that. After the first 10 minutes introducing the characters, the film just took off like a rocket & didn't slow down for a second as there was no time to catch your breath. They could've extended alot more time with the plot & develpment with characters. The Unrated Extened & Director's Cut for the DVD/Bluray help those changes a bit. I just don't understand why they couldn't put one of those versions on theaters. It made it so much better especially with the Directors Cut where it was so much more intense & violent with the action as it was thrown in with blood when people got shot. I didn't really care for the Extended Cut all that much where they changed how the Russian Spy got killed in a different way but thats just me. Now, for the action scenes, if anyone is expecting to watch this with realism, you will not find it here. I'll admit that I was expecting realistic scenes from this film but it so happened to turn from a regular political action type thriller to superhero one. I think thats why Salt got alot of hate from the critics & audience. That was only a minor glitch for me. I actually thought it was quite intresting where it was something we haven't seen before from these type of films. So I think Director Phillip Noyce was going in the right direction with that. The stunts that they used to make it so unrealistic was not hard to watch for me. I just knew that something like that would never happen. There's not a whole lot here so i don't really see why that bothered everyone from having a good time with it. If I had to choose some unrealistic shots they could've left out, i would probably go with where Salt is jumping from vehicle to vehicle & her sliding down an elevator shaft using her arms. The second stunt is somewhat possible even though nobody has tried it but no way in heck the first one could ever exist. It was just so ridiculous & cheesy in my opinion but that didn't hurt me from loving it. The acting in this film was great I thought. I enjoyed everyone's performance. They all hit their mark & gave it their all especially Angelina Jolie which is why I'm sure most watched it only for her. Whoever said that Angelina Jolie is too old to take on these roles, think again. She still looks the same since her action breakthrough with Tomb Raider. No matter what happens, Angelina will not loose her sexy side. She will always be stunning & beautiful no matter what she age's. Even though their are holes that wern't filled in, that doesn't take away all the fun that Salt gives you. Overall, if your a fan of action or Angelina. You will defnitely want to watch this. If you can just sit back & turn your brain off for 90 minutes, you will enjoy the heck out of this film. In the end, they suggest a sequel & I can hardly wait for it. Hope they release it soon with a higher budget so it can be better if not the same as this one. Salt is a fast frenzy action adrenaline pumping extravaganza that will satisfy fans of the genre & Jolie.
