God, the length I went through to see a woman kick asses! 2 hours I will never get back. I've never played the video game, so I don't know if this film would please fanboys. However, as far as the movie goes, this is a very fucked-up big budget movie. It's a shame. Alice had a very promising origin. She could be the next Ellen Ripley or Lara Croft--but the sucky plot and too much visual effects robbed this series of its true potential.

I don't think people who haven't seen Firefly can truly enjoy this movie. I literally tried to watch this twice and fell asleep both times. There was back story, yes, but it wasn't enough to inform an ordinary person like me. Thankfully, I finally saw the TV series and then followed with Serenity. With the background knowledge in mind, I was convince this is one of the best space Sci-Fi I've ever seen. It transforms from television beautifully. The special effects are not as good as mainstream movies -- after all, it was made from a TV series that never got a chance to live up to its full potential. However, the story was too daring and entertaining for us to care.
