I really hate to do this but, man, it was bad. Not for the reasons most people will say. Honestly, the franchise has so much potential. In this film, the turtles have no character in the film. Sure, there is the smart one, the funny one, the serious one, and the mad one-- but that's as far as they go. The angst and emotional conflict from the 1990 film has been completely sucked out. While it might be unfair to compare the two films, its really easy to do since the plot essentially unfolds the same way. Only this time, the scenes don't resonate as they did. There is no moment where Splinter empatheticall comforts Raph after Leo is taken. There is no real heart to his film. It's not like the original film, where you really feel the inner struggle of Raph and his need for acceptance. This film was vapid as anything I've seen in a long time.
