    12 Years a Slave

    12 Years a Slave (2013)

Disturbingly uncomfortable to watch and unapologetically brutal. Micheal Fastbender performances are so fiendish and odious that makes almost all his action so depressing to watch. Chiwetel Ejiofor as Soloman Northup whose performance is so powerful enough to carry the film on its own. His constants struggle to express his identity until there is a point you can feel he is capitulating. In the memoir of Solomon Northup, he wrote "I would have given more years of servitude if they'd only move me into the shade." After all these years of testimony to him in his soul and his ability to withstand all these peril let alone he has the conscious mind to write about it was unbelievable . British director Steve McQueen has done a wonderful job in portraying an extremely unflinching look at slavery. 12 years of slave may not be easy to watch but it is one of the best movie of the year. It is a movie that provokes the recognition in us of the very heart of darkness and portray American's past on illegal slavery that Hollywood feared to tackle.
