Rock of Ages is a film that I had been anticipated to see out of curiosity. After all, it's a musical using classic rock music! After watching, this film is definitely nothing but a good time! Is this a masterpiece in filmmaking, God no. However, it's a film that someone can turn their brain off to and enjoy funny performances and great covers of rock songs. It's hard to pin down a basic plot for this film since there's so many different subplots scattered throughout, which creates the first problem. There's just so many storylines in the film that it's hard to keep up with what's going on. Also, the film felt a bit too long and overstaying it's welcome by the hour and a half mark. Nevertheless, Rock of Ages is still a fun film to see. Sure, it's no Singin' in the Rain, but it's a lot better than the mediocre musicals that are coming out today (I'm looking at you Glee).
