The Salton Sea

The Salton Sea

So I rent this movie from Netflix on a lark-- I've beginning to have this "thing" about Peter Sarsgaard movies, just like the whole Kevin Spacey movie thing.

This guy really throws himself into a character. Also, for once, Val Kilmer did not play Val Kilmer. I kinda got sucked in. It is late though, so that might be affecting my judgement.

Hustle & Flow

Hustle & Flow

Well, even though he moved out Allen came over to visit my teevee while I was at work. He rented Hustle and Flow without asking me first. I got home, watched it again.

It's the first time I've really paid attention to how sweaty and gritty the actors were. If they were in Memphis, it seemed instead that they were at one of the innermost levels of hell-- just judging by the heat. Since I'm Southernese myself, I identify with the environment that the movie portrays. But I want to say this, I've got no love for a pimp. I don't like DJay, even though I was rooting for him to "whip that trick" or whatever.

Allen also wanted to watch Herbie fully loaded. I like Lindsay Lohan-- her hair's really shiney. I watched the whole movie so I can look at her shiney curls.

It was nice to see Mr. Mom being Mr. Mom again. He made a better Mr. Mom than a paranormal researcher.

Waiting

Yeah. So I didn't review Waiting here. But I should mention that all the guys I hang around with (even though we're all above the age of 25) play "the game" from Waiting.

They've even invented new poses. Like "The Snail," "The Hotdog," "Peekaboo."

I play too. If I see them, I kick them.

No female should be subjected to her friends testicles in any manner.

Oh yeah, other than "the game," Waiting isn't a good movie. It tries to be a "Clerks" for waitstaff, with witty dialouge and kooky characters. (I think they especially liked the kooky=pedophile guy that Mr. Alanis Morrissette plays).

It's no Kevin Smith, nor backward Tarantino.

There's a great sex scene in this movie...

and its nice to see the Prince of Gondor be a bad guy.
