I finally watched it. I was afraid I would hate it, and I did. There were few funny moments, chase scenes that went on forever and way too much CGI. Someone please take the CGI away from Lucas. He doesn't know how to use it. Don't even get me started on the plot.
Yeah, the technology got a little out of hand, but the movie was glorious from start to finish. I was actually surprised to see the underlying statements that seemed to be directed at the Bush administration's illegal wire-tapping. Ledger's performance was probably exactly what Burton and Nicholson dreamed about doing, but they were clearly the inspiration and if it wasn't for the excellent work they did, this film couldn't have existed. It was a perfect performance. Crazy, impossible, yet grounded in the real world. I was on the edge of my seat the entire time and I wish it could have been 6 hours long. I thought that Aaron Echkart played his part as perfect. Honestly, strong performances across the board. Nothing felt forced, it flowed so well. Maybe my favorite movie of all time. Yeah, I went there.
