Writing a film review about Big Momma's House 2 is the same waste of time as watching this unfunny and unoriginal sequel of the mediocre original from 2000. A perfect example of Hollywood trying to cash in a couple of more millions, this movie is pure exploitation of a bad idea and the talented Martin Lawrence.
The story in the second movie might differ a bit by being more modern and hi-tech related, but the overall concept seems to be the same and it is totally worn out. Even the big laughs, which were typical for the first movie, are reduced to several big smiles in John Whitesell's delivery. Apart from this, Big Momma's House seems totally illogical and improbable. Looking at how fast Martin Lawrence used to change his body-prosthetic costume and how quietly he cleaned a whole house at night (while a family of 5 was sleeping) is absolute far from being realistic.
Probably the only positive thing in this disappointing comedy is Martin Lawrence when he is not Big Momma. Martin Lawrence playing Agent Malcolm is actually mildly funny and he still has some charm left after so many disappointing comedies with him.
Big Momma's House is definitely a movie to be skipped. If you happen to see it on the TV on Sunday evening, or on a flight, simply try go ignore it.
