Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 1 (2010)

SPOILERS AHEAD! If you haven't seen the past 6 movies/read the books, and if you haven't seen this yet, I advise you read this another time!

So we have all been waiting for it, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows! But wait, 2 parts? Come on, really?

So as you can tell, I am very disappointed about this 2 part thing. But I gave it a 10 because this has nothing to do with the movie itself.

So first, I'm going to talk about the story. It's Harry freaking Potter, of course the story doesn't suck.
Basically Harry, Ron and Hermione are hunting for Lord Voldemort's horcruxes. Two horcruxes have already been destroyed. Those are the diary and the ring. There are 7 horcruxes in total so that leaves 5 more.
Over the journey, one horcrux is destroyed in this part. That's the locket. They found a fake at the end of the Half-Blood Prince but Regulus Black (R.A.B) took the horcrux. I won't go in to any more detail about it.
A lot of characters who were in past Potter films are in this such as Dolores Umbrige, but that's all I can really think of of people who weren't in HBP. Some characters who were mentioned in past films are in this such as Bill Weasley.
There was no other part that they could use for the ending. It's obviously a cliffhanger but it's no big deal, we already knew that.
And one thing that bugged me is that it didn't show Moody's death. I don't think it did in the book either but I'm not 100% sure though.
Overall the story is really good.

I'm not even going into detail about the acting.
We all know that everyone in pretty much every Potter movie is a great actor. So the acting is amazing.

    Now the effects.
So if you've seen past Potter movies you know you see levitating people, people casting spells and much more. Well the effects have definitely improved since the Sorcerer's Stone. In the first film, the effects were pretty bad. They improved a lot in the second one. But you get my point. So the effects are great.

David Yates always seems to put comedy in his films and this one definitely has it. The funniest part was probably where they use the polyjuice potion in the Ministry of Magic. Also some of the parts with them camping was pretty funny too. David Yates is one of the best directors of the films since he always puts a lot of humor in the movies.

Overall this is one one the best if not the best films of the year. I HIGHLY recommend you check this movie out. I can't wait for part 2.

    Score: 10/10
    Stars: *****
