A welcome nihilistic counter to the reckless hedonism pervading both the 'spring break' culture and the teen film genre. It is style over substance, but what style indeed. Korine's indulging of the audience's hedonistic impulses causes the film to develop a dreamlike quality, which he then skilfully flips upside down in the violent conclusion.
As a huge Whedon fan, my expectations were high and I was not disappointed. Some of the actors struggle with the dialect but it's actually fitting considering the nature of the characters and only adds to the charm.
