What was the point of this movie? Was it to show how pretentious people deal with a small problem?
When I first saw the trailer for this movie I got the sense that I was going to see a good dramedy. I was expecting witty and funny one liners and some good character moments. What I got however was just unlikeable characters whining about stupid problems. Don't get me wrong there are some bright spots here and there in the movie, but they are few and too far apart.
I did not care about any of these people or their unsignificant problems. Not to say that that they are 100% unlikeable, but by the end they got pretty damn close. My biggest problem in this movie was Jodie Foster's character, she had no redeemable quality to her, she was just a bitch. She may go down in my list of least favorite movie characters of all time. I was waiting for the moment in the film where we would be shown why Jodie's character is the way she is, but no she is just a annoying bitch.
I have not seen many movies from Roman Polanski but if this is the type of shit that he is making then I think i'll pass. Please don't see this movie.
This is how the franchise should have started. This material in the hands of an awesome director and the end material is one of the best movies this year and one of the best comic book movies of all time.
I love the style and feel of this whole movie. The actors I think all get their time to shine, but the best performances come from both James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender. Both of these actors give what I think are the strongest performances ever given in a comic book movie(right up there with Robert Downey Jr. and Heath Ledger). Acting wise the only person that comes up short is January Jones, who is very nice to look at but that is about it.
I loved the action sequences although I think that there could have been a little bit more of them. The death of Kevin Bacon's character is one of the most awesome deaths that I have seen in cinema.
One little Problem that I had with the movie is that there was on black guy in the whole movie and he is the only one that dies, very early on in the movie too. Come on man that is not cool, plus he has a really cool power too(much better than a guy who can screech). I get why they did it though, they already had Zoe Kravitz in the cast and they did not want to have to much COLOR on screen(just kidding, maybe).
Other than my own personal problem with the movie, i think this was AWESOME
