A great remake that surpassed my expectations. It took a little getting used to at first with how Freddy looks and sounds but once you get past that, you have a film that delves deeper into who is Freddy than any of the others.
This film, as the name implies, kicks ass (with the exception of the little bits of cgi which are horribly done). It really puts me in mind of Tarantino as far as the overall style. The dialogue was a little cheesy at times but fit with the film. The action was neat and the fight scenes were really well done; especially those of Hit Girl, who steals the show. This is a must see.
This is Jumanji on crack. The film is campy and horribly acted by pretty much everyone. It's pure B-movie horror. The satyr in the film looked cool in a creepy way so it gets a little plus there but that's about the only plus to the film.
I go into comedies not expecting them to be funny (since most of them are not). This is really no exception. The film itself is enjoyable for what it is but it's not a comedy. There are a few moments in the end that will make you crack a smile but it's too little, too late.
This film has it's flaws for sure but it's not half as bad as what the critics are saying. It has plenty of nice visual effects and action going on to make up for those that are not so polished. I liked how they updated the film yet still payed homage to the 80s original with the overall look. The dialogue and performances could have used a huge boost but they were far from awful. I know they plan to make a sequel and have plenty of room to improve for an amazing one.
