The story really wasn't that bad, it was actually pretty good and the visuals and soundtrack make it a whole lot better, so whats with all the bad reviews critics? I mean the story here was better than last years "Avatar" yet that got a better rating.
The characters were fun, the story is great, and the animation is beautiful; so what brings this movie down? why the music of course. I remember people hated the songs of last year's "Princess & the Frog" mostly because Alan Menken wasn't the one writing them, but to be truthful they were actually fun to watch and listen to. What does that have to do with this, well Alan Menken actually wrote the songs in this and for the most part the songs sucked. The only exceptions being "Mother Knows Best" both fun to watch and listen to, as well as "I've got a dream" which was mostly just fun to watch. I highly recommend watching this whether or not you have kids.
The verdict:Great film but poorly written music.
Some entertaining bits but I really believe that this should have been one film, there's a lot of crap that could have been cut in this and I'm assuming in the next film as well.
The verdict: This should've covered the whole book there is no real reason to divide it half besides just milking the franchise. 55%
