This was a funny and heart tugging film sure to win over many George Clooney fans. Unfortunately, I'm not the biggest fan of Mr. Clooney but I must say that his performance in this movie was above his typical suave American subtlety. Payne does know how to make intimate dramas but unfortunately I never really got the feeling of ignition in this film as I did in Sideways. Nevertheless, The Descendants was one of the best acted films of the year and a pretty good one that was sure to make its own mark in the list of films in 2011.
This is how every cancer film should be. Watching highly depressing movies like Terms of Endearment, I found 50/50 to be a relieving more lively movie. When a film deals with a such a delicate subject manner, they shouldn't turn a good comedy into a manipulative piece of sentiment (Terms of Endearment) but a tragedy into something more hopeful more funny (50/50). Joseph Gordon Levitt, Seth Rogen and Anjelica Huston are the film's stars shining in their acted performances. 50/50 will always be a movie that will have me more brave about terminal illness and that effect on me will always leave such a vital spot in my heart. 50/50 is one of the years best written, heartily executed and funniest tragedies.
This was by far the worst Twilight film in the series, but what is that really saying? Bisecting a Twilight film was the worst idea since the idea of adaption Twilight into films. Sure my comments are highly one sided but I know many people that would say the very same. Watching this movie I must admit I got a good laugh from many of the scenes which seemed bleak in the matter of whether they were supposed to be jocular or not. Taylor Lautner exudes buzz-kill with his expected lifeless, monotonous preformance. The sensual mannerisms displayed in the first few films finally sets free to a revolting and highly underdone sex scene in this movie. Breaking Dawn was a debacle waiting to happen.
