It is over-rated, over-praised and leaves you with fewer hearing nerve cells.
It has a fat idiot running about their own house screaming 'ghosts!'
How does that make it "the scariest movie of the year?"
Can't remember it being the worst year for horror...
I'm afraid I have to disagree with most of you. While this is not an epic movie of the century, it certainly is not a failure!
Lacking in thought-activating ingredients, it wows your eyes with its beatiful setting, perfect english and charming cast. At no point was I planning what I was going to do later that day and I didn't feel like I've wasted my money again as I was leaving the cinema.
I might have overrated it a little... I just can't help but feel sympathy for Mike Newell - it's not easy to please a crowd that has been fullfilled with the same story (the game).
Not every movie has to be original, complicated, smart and have "a hidden meaning" - we watch them for entertainment, and The Sands of Time did it's job.
