I screamed like a girl in this one, not once but twice. The first half was completely terrifying with scene after scene of suspensful supernatural activity with sharp music in the background. The movie changed slightly in the second half becoming more of a thriller. The good thing is this added more depth to the movie, and you actually begin to feel for the characters (even the father). At the same time the movie didn't lose much pace with continual twists and turns making it seem like a roller coaster ride.
I was hoping to predict the ending but unfortunately the boy didn't become possessed (well he might have but we don't know).
I had nightmares after seeing this movie. I will always remember the scenes where the aliens appear on television at the boy's party and the swing swinging in the wind.
Unfortunately I will also remember the ending where the aliens are chased away by water. If you were an advanced alien species bent on galactic domination I think you'd do some research and figure out that the surface of the planet you are invading contains 70% water
After reading some reviews I had a bet with my girl friend that she would freak out after seeing this movie. Unfortunately I lost the bet. However I still enjoyed it. I liked the way the director makes us imagine the ghost by not giving away its physical form. Sound was used to good effect, giving an authentic feel. The ending was really good - the atmosphere in the cinema was really electric. Unfortunately I thought the main character Micah was really annoying. Why would you keep filming the ghost if it's obvious that you are not going to achieve anything positive by doing it? By the end it's obvious the girl is possessed. I'd be running away as fast as possible
