Sorority Row isn't that bad as a respectful medium of its genre.
Just to say i have seen parts of original slasher cult classic, enough to say that this film is pretty much a modern reinvention of the older content and stands well as that representation. Well as well as dumb fun can stand.
It is a film that relies on a quick and snappy plot and pace that is lacking and affects a cult status but it benefits most dearily by a nice slick and stylish approach to the material and genre. The killer and his actions are well potrayed and the ending regardless of who the killer actually is doesn't come of too cliched as you lap up all the rest and remember the classics.I frankly thought they could of done a lot worse in that aspect. The kills though may not be the best but, taking presumptions from The Final Destination at least the acting was great in contrast.
Though, the characters ARE your simple Sorority Sister representations, living for the parties that only show realism through evidently being potrayed by actresses of similar age. There acting at least makes up for these very simple characters.
In all this film never stands up to the looks of at least some of my favourite slashers and loses much of the main feel of a tounge in the cheek paranoid environment on who is the killer which i loved but still stands nicely as a remake and matinee film.
