Being a Kite fan of the original OVA, I was excited to watch this one. And again, Hollywood repackages the whole thing, only leading it to ruins. Pity. Though the girl 'Sawa' reminded me so much of Anne Curtis.
Annabelle falls far from the rest of the James Wan's horror flicks. It does have some moments of fright but the movie is really dragging. The storyline is somewhat similar to Chucky. And the difference in quality is indeed noticed without James Wan behind the camera.
Just like any other time loop film, the film shows how a single act can change one's fate. It runs in the same cliche storyline but it did show something new, how determination can win against all odds, and for once, it ended with a happy ending. The movie focused more on the love story between the couples. In addition the unique cinematography style complements the story very well.
The movie ripped off some of components from 'Desperado' and 'King Arthur', that is being the man behind the legend type of premise. The lines are cheesy as well but that didn't stop the movie to be a good old adventure film. The action is good however it lacks those awesome fights with mythical greek monsters that the trailer showed. The only stopping me for giving a whopping 3 stars for this film is it ripped of the Thracian Wars of Steve Moore without his consent and not even paying him a single dime.
