Holy crap is this movie fun! Beyond the clever action scenes, the great acting, and the exquisitely twisting plot, the best part of this "summer blockbuster" is that it's one that you actually have to think about. You can't just sit back and let the movie hit you, you have to engage it and study it so that you don't get lost in limbo along the way.
This is easily a film I could watch over and over and I remain amazed at the mind that can come up with something so imaginative! Christopher Nolan, as if you hadn't already, you've more than earned my respect as a director and storyteller.
This movie is quite good. Acting is very strong, the writing is solid, with some standout lines and real emotion and for the most part, the plot is good, if not predictable. There are some great scenes and Affleck definitely does a very good job directing this film. A lot of the film does feel like it's striving to be this generation's "Heat", and I think it get's somewhat close, but ultimately, it can't quite reach that level. There are even a couple of scenes that are pretty much taken straight out of Heat, which is kind of funny, to me any way.
For me, this movie was great until near the end, when it seemed to get lost in the final heist, as if Affleck didn't quite know how to pull that off. It just felt a little loose compared to the rest of the film. The worst part for me was the narration at the very end; I definitely could have done without that.
This movie is definitely worth seeing, and is up there as one of the better films of this year, but in my view, Inception clears this one easily as "best in show" for 2010.
