John's Review of Hitchcock

    Hitchcock

    Hitchcock (2012)

This is the story of Alfred Hitchcock (Anthony Hopkins) and his wife Alma Reville (Helen Mirren)relationship during the filming of Psycho. The films main focus isn't the making of Psycho. It's focused on Hitch's relationship and the stress of getting approval to make Psycho.

2 of the best Horror films ever made were Psycho and Jaws. When you research the stories behind them you'll discover how "risky" they were to make. Nobody wanted to put their name on it, nobody wanted to allow certain scenes to take place. Both are iconic films and both allowed other filmmakers to push the bar even further. I would have loved for this film to be more focused on the making of Psycho. But instead we're focused more on the stressful love life of Alfred and Alma.

Anthony Hopkins portrayal of Hithcock is wonderful. He will always be one of my favorite directors and I'll always love watching his films. But if Hitchcock was to write a film about his own life. I just don't see this film being the story he'd share with us.

    I give Hitchcock... 2 1/2 Stars.
