Starts out very promising with all the talk of Nazi's using the occult and the bad guy being creepy and charismatic , than get relegated to bland, awful utterly clique, and tries to go for some Lovecraftian elements but fails badly at it , all in all pretty poor.
This kind of the good version of Apollo 18. I kind of hate that this is being refered to as found footage film, its much better than that the way it's integrated from a storytelling way is more like a documentary, a "fauxmentary"? The interactions of the people in the Europa one is decent not great but i feel it sells the claustrophobia of the situation and the unknown fear on Europa. Really some impressive visuals for how litt;le the budget was and Europa looks amazing, by far the best Sci-fi film of the year. Loved how it has a lot of callbacks from great classic writers like Bradbury, C. Clarke and Assimov. Oh and the format they tell the story is great. I wish they had more money to hire stronger actors but both Nyquist and Copley are excellent in this all in all I suggest watching this, its only 90 minutes and think it's maybe the best thriller of the year as well, though they do throw a bunch of hard sci-fi ideas in this, so be warned of that. Overall really good in my book.
Okay so surprisingly this isn't the train wreck that people expected but i cant really say it's good either. First have to say I'm really impressed by James Deen, in his first mainstream acting role he is the most compelling actor in the entire film, The rest of the cast in a big meh not that great though Funk is the worst of the bunch. The plot not amazing typical Bret Easton Ellis fair. Not bad just enough to show empty, vacuous, narcissistic people. Not a waste of time but at the same time not a must see either, But worth a watch for Deen's performance alone.
A pitch perfect political satire made in one of the scariest times in modern times and does an insanely great job of turning a setting of mass tragedy into really smart great humor. Very subversive to treat the Nazis in this way when at the time the world was terrified of them and a lot of great comedic chemistry and running jokes as well. Superb!
Kind of surprised how good this movie was. Visually really great, very good performances by Urban and Hedley and while basically being a generic action movie in many ways but does it's cliques very well. The only thing is the plot is a little too much like The Raid, but except without the cool martial arts scenes and the shooting action scenes get a tad repetitive after awhile. But in the end this movie was pretty good and love that it goes for a brutal violent theme it feels like a pulpy underground comic book which it is and love they didn't wimp out on it and sanitize anything and don't know if i've seen a movie throw people from apartment high rise roofs as this movie does.
Very fun and charming movie but never really hits the heights it should given the concept behind the film, more A Bugs Life or Cars rather than Toy Story or Who Framed Roger Rabbit. Feels like a lost Pixar movie in terms of pacing, humor and animation style, but more like one they passed on making honestly since it kind treads familiar waters especially with Toy Story. Though they did a good job integrating real video game characters and the ones made for the film and phenomenal voice acting by everyone especially Reilly, Silverman, Tudyk, and McBreyer. My personal opinion the best animated film of the year all though at the end it pressed the moral messaging too far than it needed to but overall really beautiful looking film that's very entertaining for pretty much all ages especially for fan of Q-Bert!
A whole lot of fun for sure and great dialogue, especially by Cristoph Waltz, Leonardo DiCaprio and Samuel L. Jackson. But the thing is it might be a little too long and some of the music really didn't fit, not the worst criticism overall totally loved it, much better than Inglorious Basterds but I can see some having issues with it. Definitely has some uncomfortable parts more so than in any of his other stuff or many others, especially involving a tricky issue like American slavery. It's a must see though best mix of great action and great acting.
A rather disappointing return to middle earth. It's not necessarily bad, just very slow and feels likes its trying to hard to connect itself to The Lord of the Rings. The additional scenes felt very unimportant and added very little to overall story. Honestly it does get really good after leaving Rivendell but that was about at the 2 hour mark! But when it finally gets to the action that was actually in the book it gets very good. The best was of the fleeing from the goblins and killing of the goblin king and the riddles in the dark battle between Bilbo and Gollum. But overall felt overstuffed and mostly unnecessary, but if you love the world of Tolkien you'll love this, if not probably it'll come as an utter bore. Hopefully the next movie will be better since most of the action happens after all the events in this movie. But overall you have to question the logic of making this into three, 3 hour movies. Probably don't see a need to revisit this movie.
This might be the most Floridian movie ever made, though this is not a compliment . I really wanted to love this and at moments it really has a WTF feeling about it and some hilariously bad parts. But overall it crams too much different genres ;a drug movie, a music movie, a biker movie, romance, ninjas into one movie and way too many cliques that it just gets annoying. But I will say wow to how awesomely bad an actor KY Kim is and maybe Tae Kwan Do doesn't really lend itself well to being used in a movie, and Orlando and Central Florida comes off as a rather poor place to live.
I was skeptical that this movie was that good, but it is just amazing, total hits where many american horror movies have failed very creepy and scary maybe the movie to make me feel most uncomfortable since the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre
