So,a galaxy outlaw who's a legend in his own mind and has a thing for all things retro, steals a mini death star that if it landed in the wrong hands, could destroy the galaxy? That's the long and short of this absurd Marvel movie. Zoe Saldana plays a green Avatar this time around and Vin Diesel is a walking talking tree with a 3 word vocabulary. How appropriate is that? Most of his acting is wooden anyway,so the irony is not lost on me.
This was like the clunky version of The Avengers with worse dialogue, character development, and it was trying too hard to be overly funny.
If you would've told me 5 or 6 years ago that someone from The Wolf Pack would turn out to be a great actor,I would've laughed in your face. But such is the case with Bradley Cooper in American Sniper. Through each of his tours in Iraq, you can see him become more distant and disconnected from his family and the ones he loves.
Each tour gets more intense than the last one and Clint Eastwood may have topped himself once again. Certainly his best movie since Mystic River.
Was Reese Witherspoon great in this? Absolutely! But I was hoping this was gonna be more inspiring and insightful. In my opinion, she didn't go through anything any other average person has gone through. I just didn't see that as a reason to walk away from life.
By the time she had her "catharsis", the credits were rolling. I guess I was hoping for a female version of Into the Wild. But this wasn't half as good as that movie.
