Don't expect a action flick when you see this art house drama. This for me tops drive largely because it has more style and meaning then drive. Despite its slow pace I never felt bored I felt more entranced when I was watching this. If larry smith doesn't win a Oscar for beat cinematography this year I'll lose my faith in humanity. The best thing about this film was its visual and audio style. I can't remember I saw this good cinematography.
There's no denying that this film is requires a certain mind set from its viewer which is not based on what's realistic and what's not (the film carries a video game sense of reality and basically no character development) that being said if you don't expect much from this film you'll be delightfully surprised by James Franco's great turn as would be rapper/ drug dealer Alien besides that and cliff Martinez's clever song choices there's not much here.
I was skeptical at first if J.J abillty to deliver a sequel but wow did he deliver a visually beautiful action packed second installment to the Star Trek franchise. I applaud everything about this sci fy film the effects the cinematography everything. Its a nearly perfect sci-fy film if it wasn't for the lense flares and poor development of some of the new cast.
