This wonderful and inventive horror film started a slasher craze from the director of "The Last House on the Left", "The Hills Have Eyes" and "Scream." Teenagers in the small town of Springwood are being haunted by the dream demon named Freddy Kreuger (played devilishly by Robert Englund) and the teens' efforts to stop him. Among the teens are Nancy Thompson (Heather Langenkamp), Rod Lane (Nick Corri), Glen Lantz (Johnny Depp in his first film role) and Tina Grey (Amanda Wyss). Timeless visuals and effects power this suspense fest which is sure to frighten for many years to come. Rating: 5/5
Now this is how to do a sequel to the original "Saw". While it's not the best, it's better than every film after "Saw". After the murder of Peter Strahm, Hoffman decides to frame him for every murder while planning new games of his own. It's easily the second-best of the series and redeems itself. I'm only hoping Saw 3D can live up to it. Rating: 4/5
I actually liked this one than III and IV, because it had story. After Hoffman's reveal of him being the next Jigsaw protege, he begins to design more traps and stop Agent Peter Strahm (Scott Patterson) from discovering the truth and revealing it. Now, it's not as good as I and II, but it's better than the two after them. I liked it, but they could stop now. Rating: 3/5
More backstory, gore and traps. Is that going to save this movie? No. This one suggests that Saw III and IV took place exactly the same time, with only a few new characters and rehasing old ones. They honestly should have stopped after III, this is not a worthy sequel. Rating: 2/5
