Solid spy thriller. Given it wasn't based on a book, it did a good job of sticking to the characters from the series, and Branagh in particular was a very good bad guy. It's a bit "by the numbers" at times, but if you want a well paced fun thriller, this is it.
It tries to get far too much into far too short a movie, and ends up feeling like a TV pilot that already knew it wouldn't get picked up. It's fun in places, and the mini West Wing reunion is nice, but overall just doesn't quite hang together.
One of those purely visual treats with some really interesting characters. If only they'd spent some of the budget on a slick script, we'd have a total winner, but that won't stop me revisiting this. Very nice.
I can barely recommend this as a fun Saturday night's viewing, but I will, just. Great cast, great first half, but then it disappears up it's own ass and you can barely keep grasp of the various bits of plot that are falling apart all over the place. A waste of a good idea.
Its a leaner beast than Chronicles, but it suffers from a poor second half, and a runtime which is about 20 mins too long. I'd have preferred to see more of the survivalist themes of the first half, with maybe 1 bounty hunter thrown into the mix.
