One of the best opening sequences ever,"I believe whatever doesn't kill you, simply makes you...stranger.".Basically the film never stagnates, amazing considering the two and a half hour running time.Heath Ledgers performance was borderline authentic possesion on screen, setting a standard that all film villians should maybe not be expected to reach but should definitely strive for.My own personal favorite scene was the Joker reveling in the chaos he had created as he is leaning out of a stolen police car with hair blowing in the wind.Bale,Oldman,Caine,Freeman,Gyllenhaal, and Eckhart are all serviceable in their respective roles. While Ledger has the flasher role,I couldn't envision anyone else playing the joker as well. But with the rest of the cast, other actors could have served the film just as well.Christopher Nolan is one of the monoliths of modern directing. In the words of the Joker "Let's put a smile on that face!",and everytime I see this movie that's what it does,I'm mesmerized by it.Thank you to everyone involved in this film,R.I.P. Heath Ledger.
