Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal ... (2008)

This movie was pretty disappointing. It was alright , but some elements worked really well while others did not. This just had a lot more bad than good. One thing that worked in this movie was the action. It was a lot of fun and it was exciting in a very Indiana Jones type style. I think Harrison Ford is still great as Indy and I really didn't have a problem with anyone's acting in the movie. I like that they brought back Karen Allen as Marion because her character was the most likable of all the previous Indy girls. Cate Blanchett is a good actress, but I didn't like her character. By far, she is the weakest villain of the franchise. What didn't work for me was pretty much the last half hour of the movie. I thought the movie started out really well, then it turned into this interesting story. But when it got down to the climax, that's when things took a bad turn for me. I thought the crystal skeletons turning into one alien was really unnecessary. Plus the fact that the villain is actually stupid enough to stay in a room where all her soldiers are being sucked into a vortex is just plain idiotic. Then there was the pointless UFO that rose out of the ground. That last half hour just took this movie down a lot in quality. One thing that the previous movies all had was an amazing finale that kept me on the edge of my seat. This movie's finale was absolute garbage. And it's a shame because if it weren't for how this movie's finale fell apart, I would've liked the movie better as a whole. Grade: C+
