    Four Christmases

    Four Christmases (2008)

    Grade: E

I got this film because I like both Reese Witherspoon and Vince Vaughn, but they didn't impress in this pretty bad film. Four Christmases is about a couple, Kate and Brad (Witherspoon and Vaughn) who go away on exotic vacations every year in order to avoid seeing their families for Christmas, but one Christmas their flight to Fiji is cancelled and they must see their families. I thought this film would be fun and interesting because Reese Witherspoon and Vince Vaughn are both good actors and I've enjoyed many of their films, but this film is a sheer disappointment and doesnt say anything about the Christmas spirit. All the values are pretty much ignored by the end of the film, which makes it disappointing and pointless. I didn't find the film funny at all; I felt like it tried too hard to be funny by inventing overly wacky family members. Usually Vince Vaughn always gives a really good comic performance, but in this he didn't, largely to the badly written script. Nothing about this film appears genuine, heartwarming or funny; its just a badly written and unoriginal piece of Christmas trash. There's too much silly slapsick to take itself seriously and there's no genuine or realistic interacion with the families. I would definitely not recommend this film; one of the worst Christmas films out there methinks!
