First great animated movie of the year! I loved The Croods. It had charming, tense, and heartwarming scenes. The character of Grug (Nicolas Cage) is a very well done character. He starts off strict, then nervous, then goes "Guy's way", and at the end becomes a loving dad and learns that exploring is not bad. Eep (Emma Stone) is another great and strong character who rebels to her dad and finds Guy (Ryan Reynolds) a character who is also well done as he convinces the Croods to go find a new home and eventually become a part of the family. Characters like Gran (Cloris Leachman) and Belt (Chris Sanders AKA Directer) are very funny and kids will dig Belt's witty sense of humor while adults will find Gran to be very charming. One thing I didn't like is I wish we we're introduces to more characters but that could be saved for a sequel. Overall The Croods is a great movie. Coming from a top-notch studio like Dreamworks, it makes the movie colorful and lively. People and cave people should all see The Croods!
Good movie. I liked how it started in black & white and transitions into color. James Franco is good as Oz but could of been better, but Zach Braff really shines as Finley/Oz's partner. He brings a lot of humor into the film. Joey King is also pretty good as China Doll/Girl in wheelchair. She stays strong in a character who is sad but believes. The movie could of been better in some ways like I wish there was more detail about the witches but overall fun for Wizard of Oz fans or movie fans!
