Movie Ratings and Reviews

Return of the Ape Man

For those who are fans of the original, so for the 2 who are, go crazy.

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull
½

It lost the spark that the earlier films had, plus Shia Labeouf is not exactly the best choice(and i think thats putting it lightly).

The Host
The Host (2013)

I have no idea why I submited to seeing this piece. (was going to say crap but that would be insulting to those of fecal background.)

12 Years a Slave
½

This one's a lot on the nervs, but it's well worth the effort to experience this expertly crafted, beautifully perfomed film. I'm fine with this wining best picture.

Nebraska
Nebraska (2013)

The Movie is very simple and doesn't say much like many of its characters, but what is said in its message is very meaningful. This is a movie that only gets better with time, I can see myself watching this movie for ages. It was easily my vote for best picture.

King Kong
King Kong (2005)

I think Peter Jackson takes his movies too seriously nowadays. Lighten up Jackson!
Why can't we go back to the days of bad taste?

The Ape Man
The Ape Man (1943)

Don't get me wrong this is a bad movie. A bad bad bad movie,
but there's something about it that's strangely appealing. (Not a recommendation)

Plan 9 from Outer Space

The Citizen Kane of Bad Movies.
Ed Wood Is the man!

The Hunger Games: Catching Fire

The first half is pretty good, but when you reach the last stretch, you then realize there's still another hour and a half ahead of you.

The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug

This just shouldn't be! A middle chapter that is better than the first.

The Royal Tenenbaums
½

It's the weirdest thing, this is one of Wes Anderson's most critically acclaimed films, but it's no where near as fun as his other movies (maybe film critics aren't allowed to have fun.)

The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou

I think it's a crime that this is so underrated, there so much more to this movie than people understand, it's truly a movie for the ages.

Bela Lugosi Meets a Brooklyn Gorilla

It makes me feel good knowing we live in a world where movie titles like this can exist.

The Island of Dr. Moreau

If you want a better version, watch the 1932 movie.

Thor: The Dark World
½

The first thing that comes to mind when I think about Thor: The dark word is dull. Dull, dull, dull, dull.

Beasts of the Southern Wild

The fact that this was nominated for best picture last year sickens me.

Hugo
Hugo (2011)

A big change for Scorsese, but I think it's his most sincere.

Top Gun
Top Gun (1986)

I saw this when I was about 6 or 7, back then I thought that the dogfight sequence
was too long, but all in all it was decent.

Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery
½

I believe this movie has become as iconic as the James bond films.

G.I. Joe: Retaliation

Yes because it is so engaging to see Dwayne Johnson try to act.

The Great Gatsby
½

Why people didn't like this i'm not sure, but I found it very compelling and entertaining. For once I didn't find Toby Maguire extremely irritating.

Tommy
Tommy (1975)

Like the tag line says "your senses will never be the same" after you see this, the way you look at movies will never be the same.

Edward Scissorhands

Funny, unique, sad, and sweet are just a few words that can used to describe Edward Scissorhands, but perhaps the best word is Moving. If you can resist the final scenes or Danny Elfman"s haunting score must you be made of stone.

Licence To Kill

It may be more true to Fleming's book, but do I care?

Man of Steel
Man of Steel (2013)
½

I think this was a solid 2 hour movie, but they had to add another 28 minutes didn't they.

Stranger Than Fiction

Ignore the consensus to this movie it totally underscores this film. This movie displays "Will Ferrell prime" as I like to call it, this movie shows that fresh, imaginative, impeccably acted, well written movies still can be made.

The Wolverine
The Wolverine (2013)
½

It's fine for what it is, it's no where near the first two in quality, but makes for good afternoon entertainment.

Goldfinger
Goldfinger (1964)

Good, But overrated Bond flick.

Django
Django (1966)

Definitely one of the best, or possibly the best of all spaghetti westerns.

Larry Crowne
Larry Crowne (2011)
½

It really wasn't that bad.

On Her Majesty's Secret Service
½

This was the most bizarre entry in the bond series. It seemed that George Lazenby managed to become someone different than James Bond, Interesting.

Office Space
Office Space (1999)

This movie is both humorous and (and rather sad to say) true.

King Kong
King Kong (1933)
½

Once again the original is the best.

For Your Eyes Only
½

It was SO!!!!!!!!!!! LONG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Octopussy
Octopussy (1983)

I have to say this one was down right strange.

Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade

The best of the Indiana Jones movies, thanks in no small part to Sean Connery.

Hairspray
Hairspray (2007)
½

This is a movie that you either love or hate . In my case, hate.

Spider-Man
Spider-Man (2002)
½

Willem Dafoe was the person who made this film. Of course they had to kill him!

Spider-Man 3
Spider-Man 3 (2007)

Why didn't they stop at the second one!

Fantastic Four
½

Who in there right minds would watch this!

King Kong
King Kong (1976)

Possibly the worst remake of any film.

Star Wars: The Clone Wars

They just wanted to rake in the box-office money.

Animal Farm
Animal Farm (1954)

We watched this at school. OK, but not as good as the book.

Gremlins
Gremlins (1984)
½

This is supposed to be a kids movie?

Land of the Lost
½

I know I will get flack for this, but I think this was a majorly misunderstood movie this was not at all to be taken seriously this was only for cheap laughs.

The Dark Knight

I found this movie to be solid, but way too depressing.

Alpha and Omega

Not hoodwinked bad, but pretty bad none the less.

Batman
Batman (1989)

This is not Tim Burton at his best, but it's a Batman movie, so there's not much you can do for it.

The Hunger Games
½

Maybe if I had read the books I would have a better connection to this film.

Coraline
Coraline (2009)
½

It tries so desperately to be like a Tim Burton animation, but falls short of obtaining that goal.

Starship Troopers

Fun, but the worst horror of the movie is the acting.

Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle
½

Maybe i'm over rating this, but I have to say this was a decent comedy that was chopped full of laughs.

Jack the Giant Slayer
½

Not as bad as they say, but nothing special either.

Planet of the Apes

This was a great movie by itself, but they really should not have made as many sequels as they did, oh well it's still a classic.

Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby

It's kind of sad that I like this movie, but heck it was funny!

Game of Death
Game of Death (1978)
½

An often strange and unsatisfying film, but the action made up for it.

Batman: The Movie

Campyness rains supreme in this movie.

Moonrise Kingdom
½

I enjoyed this film, but what would have helped it is if they had used Bill Murray more than they did. It's definitely one of the best movies this of 2012, cough cough not Argo cough cough.

Pink Panther 2

This makes the son of the pink panther funny.

Hitchcock
Hitchcock (2012)

It's a fine movie, but not the best of the year.
Just watch Psycho.

Lincoln
Lincoln (2012)
½

This is a movie not for sheer enjoyment, but for its historical importance. Over all it's a very well done historical drama.

Wreck-it Ralph

This movie is harmless but not constructive either, if I was 6 and I went to see this I would be amazed, but since I am not I will have to stick to this review.

Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones 3D
½

This film lacks in many respects, but it makes up for them in a giant battle in an arena.

The Invasion
The Invasion (2007)
½

Not bad, but still could use a lot of work.
If you want to see a better version see the original.

Kung Pow! Enter the Fist
½

I have no idea why I like this movie, but I do, so yeah.

Skyfall
Skyfall (2012)

I liked this movie a bit more than the previous Daniel Craig bond films, possibly because of the DB5.

Blazing Saddles

This is a truly funny movie, but remember it's not for everyone.

Return of the Dragon (The Way of the Dragon)
½

This is a truly iconic and awesome movie, mainly because of the epic fight between Chuck Norris and Bruce Lee.

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey
½

I never was of fan of the lord of the rings trilogy, but this was much better, unlike the originals this was entertaining, fun, and adventurous. The only problem was it's insanely long running time.

Batman Begins
Batman Begins (2005)

This movie is definably superior to the previous films, but still lacks in many respects.

Godzilla vs. the Sea Monster

Well I can say that it kept my attention for an 1 hour.
But did anyone notice that Godzilla looked like cookie monster?

Godzilla Vs Hedorah (Gojira tai HedorÔ) (Godzilla vs. the Smog Monster)

An Eco-friendly giant lizard, it's odd but it works, kind of.

Hoodwinked
Hoodwinked (2005)
½

This was a pointless piece of animation, but the worst is yet too come!

Hoodwinked Too! Hood vs Evil

No thought went into this pointless piece of box office poison.

The Dark Knight Rises
½

This movie was superior to the previous films because it was less dark and depressing plus it was more adventurous.

Star Trek
Star Trek (2009)
½

I am a fan of the original series of Star Trek so that was a plus for me,
all in all it is a fantastic sci-fi movie.

Taken 2
Taken 2 (2012)

This was a truly boring action flick. The only thing positive that I can say is that it had a short running time.

Never Say Never Again

I have to say that having Sean Connery as Bond during a time that Roger Moore was was portraying Bond was, to say the least refreshing.

The Pink Panther

A disgrace to the pink panther! What else is there to say?

Monsters, Inc.

I truly liked this film when I was young, so maybe I a little biased but that does not change my outlook on the film.

The Pink Panther Strikes Again
½

This was a truly funny film, but moved a relatively slow pace.

King Kong vs. Godzilla

Amusing, laughable what else can I say?

Midnight in Paris

This movie is outstanding in many ways, not just in entertainment but in the way Allen portrays the 1920's with Ella and Scott Fitzgerald and Hemingway. Over all this is an amazing film that should be treasured for years to come.
