I had a dream last night of Deborah Kara Unger. Yay.
did you catch the X-Men 2 trailer?
on the upside - it looks stylish and energetic.
on the downside - the last film to use Holst's The Planets: track Mars was Hellraiser: Bloodline. We all remember what happened to that. Made no sense and bombed from theaters. I hope that doesn't screw X-2.

It looks good, but it's still a teaser. Let's hope it keeps some criticism on society like the first one and that it doesn't become a dumb action movie.

some dumb action films can be fun. However, since X-Men is a comic book, it is obligated to tell a story. Comics are neverending stories. They all have a new chapter.

They can be fun, but if they have a first movie with brains it would suck to have an idiotic sequel. Comic Books have also been turned into dumb action movies: Captain America and The Punisher for example

I hate it when film companies give sequels a smaller budget... remember The Crow: City of Angels? god that looked like crap. The Crow: Salvation also had a low budget, but it was at least decent looking. I fear Crow 4.

An upscale feature might run about twice that...[with adding in various costs like promotion], the typical bottom line would be HK$9-10 million (US$1.2 million). Most American studio films cost twenty times this amount...with the 1997-98 dropoff, budgets were slashed drastically; the average film cost HK$4 million (US$500,000), and some were made for as little as HK$1.5 million (US$200,000)."
When John Woo's "Hard Boiled" clocked in with a HK$90 million (US$11.5 million) price tag, it was called "the 'Terminator 2' of Hong Kong", since T2 cost US$90 million."
I haven't seen Once Upon a Time in China. I have seen a dvd box set of the Once up upon a Time in China series... I need to rent it, if its good I will buy the set.
For a long time Once Upon A Time In China was the most expencive ever made at about $12m U.S, the production every bit as good (if not better) than most $100m Hollywood films, recently over taken by Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon at about $15m-$18m and soon again by Hero going at about $25m.

I'm unsure about Scarface. I know From Dusk Till Dawn has 2 dvds out. One bare bones, and one collector's edition. The collector's has featurettes, deleted footage, commentary (I think) also it has the kickass (I watched it twice) documentary Full Tilt Boogie which is a 90+ minute documentary on the making of the film.

Yes, it is. The budget of IT was too low, I don't remember the book that much, but that piece with the living statue wasn't in it and all. It never scared me, they cut too much out. And the ending is stupid. I would love to see a bigbudget adaption of The stand, the miniseries were faithful to the book but the sets were cheap.

They need to remake IT first. The Stand's adaptation was well done. I don't think it needs a bigger budget adaptation. Of course, if they decide to do it - i'll see it. I liked The Shining Miniseries more then the Kubrick version. Rebecca Demornay is much better on the eyes then Shelley Duvall. hmm... we need to get a photo of her up, in the name of the thread and all. :)

As for the stand, the book described the desert, while in the series it was suddenly an old road. Also, the devil wasn't scary, they need to make some good CGI out of him, realistic of course. Haven't seen the remake of the Shining yet. The scene in the original were the naked woman changes into some ghost was focked up. I didn't like in The Shining how they made John somebody who is waiting to go insane. In the book he was a regular person who focked up his life. Here's Shelley Duvall and Rebecca DeMornay, the difference is obvious.
