You get bored talking about it because your just farting empty criticisms which you can't back up.
Its lazy because you call the film sappy which is the always played card for Spielberg haters. And sappy is a word that clearly doesn't apply to this film.
Its one of the darkest films of the year. The characters are largely ordinary guys serious minded about their work and not given to emotion.

Huh? There aren't many tears shed it this movie. Assasination is a dish served pretty cold here. But in the end the emotional damn breaks for one of the characters one time at the end of two and a half hours of build up. Other than that there is a small tear shed when he talks to his baby girl. Also not out of nowhere. Others question what they are doing but that is perfectly logical and there is two hours of build for that. That about sums up all the teary emotion in the film.

There are criticisms to be made but yours are wet cardboard.

often forgotten...

i loved so many movies on your list, including Broken Flowers & Me and You and Everyone We Know, but don't overlook Nine Lives. It's terrific and out on DVD next week.

What you need to do is go to church and pray hard that 2006 isn't as bad as last year in terms of film quality. From what I can see, with the exception of Layer Cake and Junebug, that list is composed of complete crap.

You need a new adjective cause contrived seems to appear in everyone of your post. 3-Iron is a great film and sooki just doesn't care for Kim's style or approach.

I've never watched a dog's ass for 90 minutes, but I'm pretty sure the film is a cut above said named activity.

Of the ones I've seen here are my most recomended:
1. Junebug (a terrrific movie and Amy Adams is great)
2. Wild Parrots of Telegraph Hill (the best doc of 2005 IMO)
3. Howl's Moving Castle (another terrific film from Miyazaki, i'd recomend any of his films)
4. Wallace & Gromit (one of the most entertaining movies of the year)
5. The Chorus (a wonderful little french film)
6. Upside of Anger (a surprisingly good romantic dramedy)

Some more I liked:
The interpreter (a good thriller)
Jarhead (the more I think of it, the more I like it. Very interesting movie)
Oliver Twist (a terrific movie)
Red Eye (another enteraining and thrilling movie)

Some so, so's:
Paradise Now (a good movie, but an intersting point of view from the Palestinian side)
Harry Potter: Goblet of Fire (not as good as the 3rd, but still fun)

And now the not so good:
Memoirs of a Geisha (a very intersting film that barely made a fresh rating for me)
King Kong (a dissappointment, but if you're going to see it, see it in the theaters)
Corpse Bride (a fun film until it gets into the stupid songs, another movie that is fresh, but on the verge of becoming rotten)
