In Which We Obsess About "My Name is Earl"

This show is hilarious. I haven't seen one around here, so I thought I would make one. I can't wait until Thursday each week wanting to see this show. it is very humorous and I think it is just an all around great show. So let's get to it and discuss.

I like Jason Lee...though I detest his moustache. NO ONE should have just a moustache. Goatee....beard....something. But otherwise you look like an early 80s porn guy.

Funny show.

I liked last episode when he had to wear a hair net on his mustache.

You really have to do that stuff. I worked for Tyson Foods once about 15 years ago. "Beard net..."

I also like the office. It isn't a bad show, and it can be funny at some points.

I think The Office is better, but MNIE is pretty funny too.

I said it in another thread, I find the show pretentious. The beginning episodes were chuckle worthy, but not nearly as praise worthy as everyone else makes it out to be. PLus in contrast to The Office, it doesn't stand a chance. And apparently I'm alone on this since everyone else around me seems to think otherwise. I'll probably give it another chance later in the season. Remind me when it gets less sentimental.

I've always found The Office to be a better and more consistantly funny show. The Office can have me laughing out-loud on numerous occasions. My Name Is Earl is a good show but doesn't bust a gut nearly as much..... Jason Lee and Ethan Supply(i think) are great though.

I like The Office as a the type of show it is, and it is entertaining, but I don't seem to find it "laugh out loud" funny all the time.

Jason Lee is perfect in this.

One of the worst comedies to ever appear on television. It's awful.

Love it, some episodes are better than others and it's not always laugh out loud funny, but the show is consistently great.

My favorites are the Ruined Christmas, the episode with Giovanni Ribisi, and either the first or second episode with the gay dude (I watched the first few out of order due to DVR issues).

This and Scrubs are must must see comedies of the week. I like the Office as well but don't actually get excited to see it...

Wow, not the right word in this case. This show is far from pretentious.

My Name is Earl is my favorite comedy on TV right now. I didn't start watching The Office at the beginning, so have never got into it. But Earl is great. I also started wtching How I Met Your Mother this yea, but while it is well written (ie funny) I just don't see how it can make it - it is limited to every episode being aboutthe same thing. That's where Earl is great - each episode can be about anything and go absolutely anywhere. I love that Earl is so unpolitically correct.

The characters are deepening over time, so bit by bit we get to care about them, even recurring "Earl Victims". I think my favorite episode so far is the one where his first victim/beneficiary, the boy he beat up in school, agrees to hide in a car trunk attempting to get Earl back his car and money.

I also watch Scrubs, which I am glad came back. But it also tends to suffer from "same-story-itis". Hospital dramas should be able to span a lot of topics - I hope Scrubs improves this year.

Can any show come close to reaching AD standards. Too bad it is being threatened with cancellation.
